When it comes to cycling jerseys, I like them a little loose. With normal shirts I wear (most times) a large, and in some cases an XL, but when it comes to jerseys I normally buy XXL or XXXL.

What about y'all?

Tight. Had to buy a few new ones this year after losing a lot of weight. Old ones flopped in the wind and drove me nuts.

Tight as possible. I can't stand the loose parts flapping in the wind. I feel like I'm giving away watts.

Not tight but not too loose either. With some brands the length is too long when I get a slightly loose jersey so I stay away from those. Consequently many of my jerseys are 3-5 years old and showing quite a bit of wear. But I keep an eye out for sales, closeouts, etc so I'm able to find jerseys. None are the "team jerseys", just regular. I like Primal Wear jerseys when I can find a design I like.

Loose!

Yeah, I've got quite the "spare tire", and I hate how the tight skin-suits accentuate it more than necessary.

Tight. Nothing worse than standing out of the saddle, and having everything in the jersey pockets bounce around. "Club fit" jerseys also always seem to be longer in the front, which just means the bottom of the jersey pooches up. Why can't jersey manufacturers accommodate my weird body?!

So, what's the size difference between your regular shirt versus jersey size?

Snug against the skin, but loose enough that if I twist my torso, the jersey moves, not sticks in place and stretches.

I wear large shirts and large jerseys. The problem is, “large” means something different to every brand. I have lined, long sleeve jerseys from Pearl Izumi and Castelli, and they may as well be different sizes altogether. I could wear a jersey under the PI. I couldn’t fit a base layer under the Castelli. It fits like skin.

Medium shirt, small/medium jersey. 5'9" 145lb, so you know, kind of a lightweight.

I have EXACTLY these issues. My phone ended up launching itself out of my size M *race* fit jersey. Things still jump around and almost out of the pockets which means I can't hammer on bumpy descents. I used to be a size M for T shirts but I guess I lost a lot of upper body weight + M was always a tad on the big side anyway. So I figured I'd get a size S club fit jersey for training rides. It fits like a garbage bag. It's difficult to even use the pockets because they lack any structure. My next jersey will be a size S race fit. Don't know what I'll do with my club fit stuff. Dont mean to incite anyone, but I feel like "club fit" and "race fit" are talking less about how the clothes fit you and more about...

Size inflation for men’s shirts has gotten ridiculous. I’m the same weight and height I was in 1985, and I always wore a large t-shirt or polo. Now it’s medium and even those are getting baggy.

Here’s a large Castelli jersey and a large golf shirt:

Light and tight.
Loose and airy is nice while sitting on a terrace drinking Sangria.
I find sweat wicks away better where the cloth touches the skin.

I have to wear loose clothing regardless of what it is. I can't stand anything that feels binding around my neck (NO ties) and I've always rolled up long sleeves on dress shirts.

Loose, but still tight enough it doesn’t ripple in the wind. Mostly because there is a slight roll above the shorts where if I ever lay off the pizza and beer will have a flat stomach.

A little loose. Can't stand the feel of tight shirts against my body.

And as for weekend warriors who think tight makes them more "aero"....

If you don't have body for it, well then, ya know, you can laugh it off.

No, I don't have the body for it...whatever that means.

But that wasn't the point.

So the point was that tight clothing isn't more aero, and all these weekend warriors who wear the tight jerseys is just deluding themselves into thinking that it is, and it looks silly? Gotcha!

Skin tight; I can't abide flapping or folds building up on the shoulders.. I wear a 15 1/2 dress shirt, but find myself becoming a "Small" these days. Good for shopping the clearance racks.

IKR. A year or two ago we got fleece jacket swag from work. No samples to try on before we picked our size, but we were told they ran true to size. I ordered a L. The thing was more like a XXL or possibly even XXXL. There was no way I could wear it so I gave it to a rather big bartender I know who has a huge pot belly. Fits him fine.

Never said nor suggested it looking silly. Some like their jerseys tight, some more loose, what's the problem with that? I don't have a problem with how anyone wears their bike clothing and never suggested otherwise. I also don't care what anyone thinks of what I wear or how I wear it.

My only point was, the weekend warriors that somehow think they are going faster with a tight jersey vs one a little loose if funny to me. But hey, it's all good!

Snug with length. No one offers one within reason that fits as I'd liked. So I buy the next size up to achieve length. Nobody wants to see a tube top on this guy.

I plead guilty to being a weekend warrior, to having a preference for tight-fitting jerseys (and shorts - but for different reasons), and to looking silly.
(Hi, my name is noimagination, and I'm a MAMIL.)

Not aero means flapping, which results in sore nipples (for me) on longer rides, even though I do wear a base layer. I wear U.S. Medium (Euro L, size 4) cycling jerseys, and in polo shirts I usually wear M now (used to be L: as noted above U.S. sizes have shifted dramatically in the last 30 years), casual T-shirts either L or M depending (there is NO consistency in T-shirt sizes between brands).
