Private Message. If you don't have enough posts to send PMs you can try reporting the original post of the thread you want deleted and ask that way. Click on the exclamation point surrounded by red on the left hand side.

You can delete a reply to a thread from the advanced editing page. However you don't get that option for the initial post. It's possible that for a short amount of time you might be able to delete a thread if you hurry,
But IMO, once a threads out there, to me it should be like normal spoken conversation. It's there, you said it. So own up to it. Though you can edit it to just one character.
I might be okay with OP's deleting their threads if they have not been viewed or already have a reply. But once a reply is in place, it's wrong IMO, to delete the conversation that may have shaped the reply whether it's the thread starting post or a reply.
