Biking Neked?
Been looking at the TDF websites, decided that the big boy here needs a "King of the Hill" red dotted jersey, just to show the club riders that I could if I wanted to.
Made me think......what do you wear when you ride? High dollar jerseys or ragged tee-shirts that momma keeping trying to throw in the trash? |
Wait, I thought this thread was about biking neked. :D
Anyway, my answer is neither. I wear $30-$45 jerseys from LBS, on-line retailers, and REI. I'm still looking for the "right" jersey for me. |
I've always wanted to try it. But, after my fiasco ba'ing the evil driver, I don't think I'll be doing it anytime soon. Maybe deep in the mountains .... but what fun is that? he he he
|
From the start, I've never been into the high dollar wear. Just too "Madison Avenue" for me.
Whatever Mama throws out is good enough for me. |
My fav cycling shirt is not made for cycling. Its a light fleecy Paramo Mountian Shirt, ideal for cooler climates. It seems to keep me at the right temperature all year round.
|
I have a rather expensive set of bib shorts ($80), and two rather cheap jerseys ($30 each). Both jerseys are two tone, blue / black and white / black.
I'd like a spiffy jersey, but dont know what to get. I think the forum jersey will be my only spiffy one this year. |
Afraid I'm at the bottom end of the market, here....
Cut-off stretch pants that I got at the thrift store: $2/pr All the white T-shirts I can't wear for other public use, due to the fact that they have stains on them: priceless. (Or is that worthless?) Saw a REAAALLY cool green and white swirled Sobe jersey at the bike shop, I'm tempted....but not $80 dollars worth of tempted. |
I have 1 "real" jersey, otherwise it's just event "T"'s. Shorts are far more important, got to have "real" cycling shorts or...or...or...I don't know what, forget American Express, but cycling shorts, don't leave home without them!
|
Tried biking neked on my trainer, but it was a little uncomfortable.
As for jerseys, I probably have a dozen or two of various types. Most of them have been gifts or given out for rides I've done. But mostly I wear Tee's. Am looking forward to the BF jersey though. Am anxious to see what, if any, response it receives around here. |
There isn't enough mental floss out there to remove the image burned into the minds of anybody that saw me nekkid on or off a bike. Course they might think they were seing a bear with hair loss proablem out riding.
Most times I just wear a t shirt on short rides. farmer kev:eek:   |
I've worn cycling jerseys up until a few years ago. My collection is so thoroughly tattered that I'm ashamed to wear them and too sentimental to toss them out.
Since retiring and becoming a tightwad, I can't fork out the bucks for more jerseys until my social security checks kick in (2004). So I've been wearing polyester soccer style tee shirts when riding. They work just as well but I do miss the rear pockets. Of course I always wear real cycling shorts. |
I wear jerseys from all the organized rides I've completed. Most of my riding wardrobe is from the USAF team we ride with. But I have jerseys from Italy and one from Korea that I wear as well.
I figure I have to earn the jersey before I can wear it, once earned I wear 'em proudly. |
I've got this yellow job I made from some coolmax type fabric my sister was throwing out. Real simple sleeveless T. Heck, she had lots of that type of fabric so I made around 5 of them in different colors but my bright yellow one is my fave. People seem to get out of my way and other bikers are friendlier when I wear that one.

Yes, biking naked could be a beautiful thing

Jerseys, I have quite a few that I have accumulated over the years. My favorites are ride commemoratives. The others I mostly picked up cheap. T-shirts get clammy and heavy. I want that wicking fabric, zip neck and three back pockets.
Riding nekkid is no good. Sweaty flesh sticks to a leather saddle. Don't ask how I know this. |

Me either, but I want one! L8R |
women's underwear company. "the grand exit" is the caption.

O.k., Not for me!
Maybe some for my wife. I wonder if she'll model them for me while on her bike? Uh Oh, I think I've just crossed that line. Sorry Joe! L8R |
I have tow Jerseys, one I got on sale super cheap, I mean super cheap!
The second, I made up for it, I paid full bore, but its the coolest, in both ways.. Sugoi 21 Windows, I now have the VW Microbus, without the overheating problems!! |
Ladies don't need to ride naked, just need them Daisy Dukes!!

I recently discovered the joys of riding in shorts with a hole in the crotch. It's dreamy!

I always just wear a t-shirt, and of course good biking shorts. I have been thinking about getting a couple of those t-shirts that are powerdry or one of those kinds of wicking materials, instead of a jersey, cause these seem to be quite a bit cheeper in price. Anybody ever wear these? I would love to wear something that wasn't soaked when I was done riding.
