Dogs on bikes

I don't think dogs should be allowed to ride bikes. Despite what anyone says, I don't believe they can operate the brake levers.

And how come the dogs in the trailers don't have to wear helmets? No fair.

That goes without saying. The important question is, how do you feel about dogs in backpacks riding on bikes? I saw one yesterday, and for a fraction of a second I thought the bike operator had a raccoon on his back.

I'd rather see a dog riding a bike than chasing one.

There was a pretty well known New Yorker cartoon that I've not been able to find online that featured a dog riding a bicycle on a beach approaching a sign saying "No Dogs or Bicycles."

I guess you had to be there.

This thread is really speciesist. Why focus on dogs? What about cats, marmosets, sloths and lemurs? Do you not think they should also not be allowed to ride bikes ?

You ever tell a cat not to do something?! Cat is going to do it anyway.

Sloths won't really need brakes, so no problem there.

Lemurs have hands. No problem.

Marmosets can work the brakes with their hands or tails. Again, no problem as long as the bike is really, really small.

A horse should never ride a bike.

If a snake is clever enough to figure out how to pedal, I say go for it.

It's probably ok as long as the dog doesn't go all Toto and jump off the bike.

Definitely needs this and a self-opening parachute:

We've already had a heated thread about dogs and pepper spray.

I don't think dogs should carry pepper spray while riding bikes, without a helmet, with tubeless tires and disc brakes, and not waving at other cyclists, unless they wax their chain.

Could market a SPDog standard that accepts claws as cleats if I wasn't so against dogs biking.

Shimano already has a patent on that and their attorneys are drafting a cease and desist letter to you as we speak.

While we’re at it, let’s talk about eagle rights. What kind of rights should they have? How can they vote? Their wings will get caught at the voting booth. Eagles can’t work computers. I’m not for eagle rights.

Ugh, the human racehorses department at my job is the WORST. All about protecting the company from liability at the racetrack, not really about the humans at all.
