From a classic thread from 2005. Quite amazing to read.

"no chain"

From Lance Armstrong's book. (page link)

On those days where pedaling seems effortless.

It's been years since I read that thread. It has no equal.

Maybe I'll try to post a similar thread on the 41. I have to careful, though, because anyone who knows me knows I can't pass a bad penny.

"Chopper": a dangerous inexperienced rider in the group
"Chipper": a race with such low standards that the prize is a free fish and chips from the take-away trolley at the event
"sit on sprinter": we all know this one already, the guy never taking a turn but using up the saved energy for other times.

I really don't get how riding groups don't know how to handle that one. You see it happening all you have to do is take turns among the rest of you sprinting as soon as the guy/gal gets on the back after skipping a turn. Wait till they're back there and the last person lifts pace to form a gap and sprints back on. With the whole group rotating who does it, that person skipping turns burns up matches sprinting back on and gets dropped. And yes, I've done this on purpose to someone knowing they couldn't bridge the gap. Works best if the group is about to crest a very small hill, as the group accordions over the roller anyway. That's also a good way to piss off your mates on a hammer ride, lift pace over the roller and split the group.

I enjoyed this. I agree that "salmoning" should be reserved for contra flow riding. Find another fish for general weaving. Also, a "gutter bunny" is not just a bike commuter but any rider who hugs the curb riding in the gutter pan and invites drivers to "squeeze by".

Pondered these things while riding today.

Corndog going endo and landing on a dry dusty single track. Upon arising, one is covered with a layer of dirt giving the appearance of a corndog.

Vegetable tunnel riding single track that hasn’t been maintained in forever and is almost overgrown.

Christmas tree acquiring various bits of vegetation while riding through vegetable tunnels.

Holding a line not slang, but something many MUT riders are evidently incapable of doing.

MUT/MUP multiuser trail/ multiuser path. Scene of chaos and carnage on weekends.

Run over by a dump truck full of awesome a great ride but you’re almost too tired to function afterwards.

BSO bicycle shaped object, a piece of junk that vaguely looks like a bicycle. A term of derision often reserved for bikes from Walmart. Occasionally used by snobs for bikes that cost less than $1000.

Did anyone mention Junk? It's the same as package.

Thanks for the comedy.

I was in France on work, so took a vacation day extra to go see the last day in Paris of the Tour. I'm so lucky it worked out that way.

I bought a polka dot replica jersey. I totally got it because I love polka dots and so I can wear it on purpose to the local A group ride. There's a few "no team kit", "no yellow", "no polka dot" folks in that crowd.

I'm totally hoping someone says something.

As a new member of the forum, I find this so helpful! Thank you!

Alright, I give. Although salmoning on a bike path without also weaving through the right lane would likely be impossible.

Wait... how did the thread get closed, but then someone was able to bump it two years later?

WHAT IS THIS SORCERY?

Cranial disharmony result of an endo or unplanned dismount in which one obtains a soil sample, takes a digger, or augers.
