Cycling attire
New to this game, I wondered if anyone has advice on where to purchase cycling clothing in the UK, for chest sizes of 50-52" and waist sizes of 42"?

Try an outfit called Didoo Limited on eBay UK. I have a 48" chest and have found some of their items fit me.
If you're not too fussed about cycling-specific clothing, then look into Under Armor (UA) tops (the non-compression ones). They have a very relaxed fitting and you can get short-sleeved and long-sleeved tops. I could get away with a Medium size, which would be quite fitted on me.
I tend to go with UA tops and Didoo padded cycling shorts.
There's also a brand called Funkier who make cycling clothing with a more generous fit, and it looks very stylish.

I have some Funkier gear ... their multi-x Large stuff is American multi-X large, not like most manufacturers whose 3X-Lg is an American Medium. Good quality gear.

I haven't been 2xl since I was about 5... However, yes, Decathlon is somewhere I have tired and purchased my bib shorts from - they're actually too big now so I have purchased a new pair, just waiting for delivery. The jerseys on the other hand...
Yes, FLAB, I have seen a couple I like there but the prices are a bit steep, especially when I expect to lose a bit of weight whilst cycling. I will end up buying from there, I have no doubt though.

It's been a few years now, but I used to get Nalini stuff from an operation in Ireland (reasonable shipping, and it got here quicker than if I'd ordered from California). More recently I've made a couple orders with MerlinCycles, and they also have reasonable shipping (about $6.75 standard rate, and they airmail it across the Atlantic, then USPS delivers from NYC ). Shipping time is a little slower, but nothing like ordering from China on ebay (maybe a solid week or so.)
MerlinCycles sells that Funkier brand that Taz and Maelochs mention above, and they seem to get very good reviews, I've been considering some of their shorts myself.

Why not just wear regular shorts (or pants) and shirt?
I don't race, so I've never had much use for the spandex cycling attire. What little (if any) wind resistance my regular clothes may add is immaterial.
(also, I would look ridiculous wearing spandex cycling shorts and jersey on my trike, "beach cruiser", or mountain bike.)
