Narrowest Tire on WTB i21 TCS Rims?

I am wondering what the narrowest width tire is, that I can use on the WTB KOM i21 TCS wheels that came with my new Cannondale Synapse SE. The research I've done, says the inside measurement is 21mm. I was told I could go as narrow as 23mm and that the tire will just widen out a little more than normal. Can anyone confirm that it's ok to go to a 25mm or even a 23? The bike comes with 30mm. Thanks

Thanks! So, I guess 28's are the narrowest. Now I'm wondering if Continental tires that are 25mm but inflate to 28 are ok. Hmmm...

i23 are Internal 23mm last I checked, so Id double check your figures, or what rim you actually have.

But i23 run, I believe, 28mm external, so Id go 28mm minimum on the tire.

Banzai thanks for the heads up. I mistakenly typed i23 when it should've said i21 as I wrote in the title.

WTB has good guidelines on their website I think.

Almost everything I've read says 28mm is the narrowest and Cannondale agrees. However, LBS guys with lots of experience are telling me I can go to 25mm or even 23mm. The other thing, is that Cannondale said that the 28mm recommendation is based on the inflated measurement of the tire. Sounds like 25's are ok then, I guess.

Why do you want to go so narrow anyway? Lots of light and fast 28+ mm tires these days.

Just want to know all my options. Probably go with 28s anyway.

Wait until you have a blow out at speed and you have a tiny tire on a big rim.
