Photo of McKids Bike!

It's been talked about on several threads:

I wonder how sturdy and safe those are, especially for young children.

DerekU2 06-20-05 09:01 PM

Well, that first shot looks like a pretty sweet kids ride. Built in fenders? He/She can commute to kindergarten!

outdoorboy 06-20-05 09:03 PM

Some nice singlespeed action. Just needs some spd's and it's ready to roll! :D

HereNT 06-20-05 09:09 PM

Is that a radially laced rear wheel? Wow!

larue 06-20-05 09:39 PM

Comes with a rack and a happy meal box!

duane041 06-20-05 09:55 PM

I'm diggin' the green one. It doesn't look so "McDonalds" like the red/yellow/blue one. Imagine what one will bring on eBay in 10 years.

chris_pnoy 06-20-05 10:01 PM

I'd pimp it!

Put some chrome spinners, and turn that thing into a sweet McDo low-rider!

orthoclase 06-20-05 10:10 PM

I just blew my coffee out my nose when I saw those pix. Lord help us all.

slvoid 06-20-05 10:22 PM

Niiice. I like the frame/rear fender.
Man I wish my commuter had a better fender that integrated or at least attached better to the frame.

Cyclaholic 06-20-05 11:03 PM

Forget the kids, I want the green one in MY size! the basket looks just right for a sixpak (to wash down the upsized, super-value, qarter pounder meal)

The new definition of a century - 100 laps of the local McD's carpark

outdoorboy 06-21-05 05:15 AM

You could bmx that thing out and be the hit of the bike park!

The bike in the photo may just be an "artist's concept". K-Mart and Wal-Mart won't see any McBikes before about October 2006, and there is a good chance they will be just the standard commie crap those stores pawn off on their not-very-bright customers.

The frame of the "concept" bike is similar to the frames of some German and Swedish adult bikes I've seen in design catalogs. An interesting design, because with an adjustable stem and a long seat-post, "one size" can fit a wide range of riders.

Some of the "Euro-bikes" use the integrated fender idea, to enclose the tire, but then fully enclose the chain as well. If a high quality chain was carefully lubed at the factory, and then enclosed in a dust-proof, water-proof case, a bike could run a looong time without any service. And, the riders clothes don't get greasy, shoelaces and pantlegs don't get eaten by the chain...

The McDonalds on my corner is often full of little kids, from age two to age eight. Many of them are so fat that they waddle, rather than walk. If a "cute" bike can gets these kids out of a chair and out into the Park, I'm all for it. But, if McDonalds REALLY was worried about fat kids, would they be pushing a kid's meal that includes a double cheeseburger and a large order of fries?

Mcdonalds doesnt care about the health of the children. The only reason they are on this health trip (bikes, salads, fruit, ect..) is becuase they realize there is a big market of people who like to eat healthy and they want to tap into that market.
It's all about the money.

This is the absolute truth, the sad and pathetic truth of this whole McBicycle crap.

But there's hope for the future, my 2 1/2 yr old girl says "ewww yuk!" when she sees a McD ad on TV :)

Damned if you do, damned if you don't.

va_cyclist 06-22-05 08:05 AM

Rolling advertisements. McD's ought to pay the kids to ride those.

EuroJosh 06-22-05 06:29 PM

The green bike is a Giant fashon bike, you can get one in your size. Also it is not a concept bike, they have been available since febuary.

caloso 06-22-05 06:31 PM

Are those flower-shaped pedals? Look for Speedplay to steal the design idea!

catatonic 06-22-05 11:12 PM
