Gravel on a 17 Spec Roubaix?

Not sure where to post this question.

Has anyone done a gravel ride on a 2017 Specialized Roubaix? I am not a "racer" but would like to ride one of the events.

I've done gravel using mine running 35mm tires. Seemed to work.

I did it on my 2017 Roubaix with stock 26mm tires. Doable but not very fast and not as easy as riding the same gravel MUP on my Hybrid with 35mm tires.

Not sure about 2017s, but the 2018 Roubaix came stock with 28mm tires. However, the frame can handle much wider ones, so it's quite doable to swap the wheels for wider ones as pdoege mentioned.

If you're riding a 2017 with disc, spec states it will take up to a 32. I mounted some conti gp4000's on HED aredennes wheels. Tires are supposed to be 28's but they are measuring out around 33. I'd have no issue riding gravel on the bike, if I didn't already have one for that purpose. I'd probably avoid races that feature mud if I were riding it, as I don't have a ton of clearance.
