The veil is just cosmetic. The fork isn't going to 'asplode' because I'm pretty sure it's just covering up some aluminum billet. But I agree if it couldn't have been applied better, it might have been better for them to stick with paint. You need to be happy with the product you spent your money on; so it you don't like it, definitely send it back.

I felt the same way with my Stumpjumper that had the same effect in the carbon. It's perfectly normal and now I don't even notice it.

Actually kind of a cool response. I can't imagine even the LBS saying something along the lines of "hey, you're not cool with the fork's hip design.. that's OK.. just bring it on back. We'll give you all your money back.."

This is what carbon fiber looks before it is painted or wrapped with the fancy patterned carbon fiber "weave": Sometimes the manufacturer will just clear coat the CF. De Rosa used to do this with their bike frames to highlight the technology of CF. See a similar pattern?

Many of the new forks have a carbon crown. Does it have a carbon steer tube?

You can fly across the Atlantic too, but that does not make it practical.

In the UK, ou have the right to cancel a transaction within 14 days, even if you just change your mind. If only the forks are affected, maybe you could ask CRC to send you some replacement forks, rather than the hassle of returning a whole bike.
