I currently have my arm in a cast due to a broken radius bone.

The back wheel went but then gripped, catapulting me over the opposite side - I got some big air but landed chest down and had my work cut out, couldn't really roll properly.

Unfortunately no gloves that day, so blood everywhere from broken skin. That and my wrists usially get it, but this was from such a height and angle that my arm couldn't take it and it snapped. Hurt my shoulder too.

Currently at 5 weeks off work. Expecting a few more.

Thats how I came to remember parts of my accident. I made the lean left and dragged the pedal just as Im starting to obligate into the a turn, at the speed I was going I remember having to wip the bike quicky twice to stay on course. the line does a bit of a zig then a zag right after crossing a single lane turn pipe.

I sensed the pedal had little but still just enough time and clearance to kick it past the danger zone then all the way up anticipating the second lean. In that split second I was trying to avoid what ended up happening basically. Pedal caught the a lip in the cement and spun the back of the bike and me up and around sideways. then I remember instinctively planting my right foot as we dropped by then I was heading into an uncontrolled right lean, my right foot gripped the ground and was getting sucked under the bike. my foot or my foot and the tire touching down and gripping the asphalt sent us into a roll . thats how my right side contacted the ground about where cement changes to asphalt surface, longer story shorter that and the momentum put me and the bike on a sideways roll in the direction I was heading upright .10 prior. and should of been heading again had I not fubarred the left. It all happened so quick, some parts are still blurry but thats how I recollect the events.

I also remember kicking the bike away from me as my back touched down. I remember the bike falling towards me and my face.. Then I remember sitting there stunned at what just happened, and some lady with her kid saying are you ok..are you ok...do you need an ambulance lol. thats about when stunned turned to disbelief and disappointment. I cried like a ***** but it wasn't the pain, or it was a combination but mostly something else. a minute or five passed then thought ok I'm ok it hurts like hell but Im going to make my way up nice and slow lol, But realized nope that aint happening, I didnt make it off my ass, everything on my right side hurt, mostly my entire right shoulder, it was like a shearing pain I dont remember feeling that intensely before. I still felt I could shake it off and get up for some stupid reason until I noticed the popping. then I knew right then yea this is bad. I was more upset by that point because me and my fiance finally reached each other after a long stretch apart. I was kicking my self because I felt like my dumb fall will screw up our time together and disappoint her. She met me at the hospital happy to see I was upright and awake by that point, Im high as a kite and feeling somewhat better. They gave me morphine and that strong stuff in the patches, I forget the name. It was one to remember for sure, plus Ill have the scar as a memento of course.

This might be one of the worst creepy feeling experiences I've had personally. Pre and post surgery su*k. From what I read online I thought once the bones are back in line it should be mostly a piece of cake. But clavicle breakages can vary a lot now I'm learning.

If you've never broken a collar bone before, don't do it, break something else instead. I managed to go through a day and a half pain medication free, mostly ok. No way dude, this ain't happening very much longer. Feels like someone dropped a mesh bag full of roofers nails inside my body with all the sharp shooting pains everywhere up to a foot or more away from break itself. In the immediate area where they put the plate it has the most bizarre feelins sensations aside from just feeling it being there to constant dull aches. also like I can feel my skin pulling and dragging across the plate with most body movements. Even the tendons down the side of my neck are wack, they feel much tighter than usual. Yea I have had more pleasant injuries than this before. I almost want to say this is worse than the neck fracture and a whole bunch of whiplash. Probably not. but broken bones in other parts were joyous occasions in comparison lol. A few hundred stitches down my throat, and staples in my head, a couple broken noses. I'd trade them all back for this one to be gone. Now I'm probably sounding like a baby again lol. I can handle it well its mostly about the bizarre alien sensations that I cant stand much longer, the ones that don't necessarily even hurt. Ranting helps somewhat

How are you broken people doing out there?

Btw its looking like I'll be gone for about 3 maybe 4 months sick leave. Soon after that I'll be heading over seas for a few months, maybe as long as a full year. Hopefully happy sailing by that time.

On July 24th 2013 I crashed on the road and broke my neck. Spent 8 days in hospital, had two 5 hour surgeries and went home on August 1st with C1 & C2 fused. Was back on the rail/trails in November. Aside from a limited ROM, I seem to have recovered pretty well. Haven't crashed since. I am a very lucky guy.
