British Eagle bike

I have inherited an 1980 British Eagle racing bike. It has drop handle bars, "Elan" 5 speed gears and "White" pedals. There is no british eagle badge on the front frame under the handlebars but it has British eagle decals on the down frame under the seat. It was purchased new in 1980 or 81 from a reputable cycle shop in Dundee, Scotland.
I would like to know if it is a genuine British eagle and would it be worth anything to someone
