Newbie question regarding thread starting
Why is this site limiting me from starting a thread until I have 10 posts, when I've seen other threadthreads started with less?
|
Seeing as that one went through, i'm not sure what is going on regarding the other thread. I was trying to open a question in Bicycle Mechanics section for a repair I need to do
|
Well there's been a rash of new members staring a thread and asking a question with their first post, then they're never heard from again, not even to give a thanks. So I would support the 10 post rule. But I see obviously you can still start a thread.
|
It happened again here, saying I can't post URL's until I have 10 posts, even though there was no URL in the post at all. Just the content in question and a photo to help
|
Photos contain URLs if you are linking to them :thumb:
|
What's your question? Maybe we can help without the photo.
There's a process by which to upload a photo. You have to hit he Go Advanced button. then Manage Attachments. The process is not super intuitive. |

Hi VF. Since you are unable to post pics yet I'll post one for you to help out. :D

The rule is a good one and it is there to prevent spam and bots from posting. The prohibition against posting links until you have 10 posts is the same reason. It's a little more likely that someone who hangs around for 10 posts is real and has an interest in cycling, not just spreading junk. At the time I posted this, you were already half way to being able to post links and pictures.

as for the question itself - during a tube patching wheel investigation, I discovered a small hole - a bit smaller than a pencil - in the rubber of the tire, between two of the treads. Is that small enough to patch and continue riding, or is a wheel replacement more highly suggested? |

Do you have any idea what might have caused the hole? What does the hole look like from inside? You only have 4 posts to go before we can see your pic so continue to add a few more descriptive posts.

Dime included as size reference now down to business. It is *smaller* than a pencil width so I was checking what the suggested course of action is, to see if it would still cause problems. I haven't the faintest idea what caused it, seeing as the tube hole and culprit wire responsible for it were on a different area of the tire |

To better assess the significance of the damage, post a pic of the inside of the tire.

Do not post junk posts just to get to 10. Participate in the forum.
Also, do not encourage others to make junk posts. |
I wasn't intending to junk-post it but all that is said and done. I went ahead and reassessed the hole size, and opted to try a tb-2 patch out and so far it's all been holding up right. Many thanks for the input from everyone who opted to give it
