Any guys here ride a women specific bike?

A neighbor has a road bike for sale only $75 with 9 speed shimano stuff which she bought from a rather famous internet vendor (BD). I took it for a test ride and I rather like it, even the light blue paint scheme. I was thinking about going down to $50 but she´s kind of cute so maybe I go down to only $60.

There are very few differences in the brands at my shop. The WSD ones are really just shorter reach and different seat. This year trek even decided to make the WSD decal removable because enough men wanted it.

Yep. Here's mine. I need a step-through because I don't bend in the middle so well and can't swing my leg over a regular DF.

It's a Simcoe Deluxe, bought off Amazon for about half price since it had been lying around their warehouse for about three years and the paint color was discontinued. I think I got the last one of these they had in the larger frame size. It came with a match-painted rack; I swapped that for the Wald 520 set and have since replaced the saddle with a Brooks B67.

Ordered a womens Fuji Finest 1.1 from performance last weekend as they had it on sale for $440 after their 20% off coupon. No way was I going to turn down a Tiagra disc setup, new for $440 when it was in my size. Only thing I'll change is a 10mm longer stem.

A bike is a bike.

Yep, 1980 or so Schwinnn Tourister step-thru, 3 speed. It is my city bike and I love it. Easy to get on/off and sitting straight up is terrific. I think all my in-town commuting bikes will be the same design if/when I need to buy another. I bought it used and it had a Schwinn bell on it. It would not surprise me if the bell is worth more than the bike.

Opinions and political design are both fashioned, they change with the times. But currently, femininity is outlawed. But don't worry, it will return once we're all bored with the linearity of gener-neutralism.

I own a WSD Carrera Hellcat. There isn't a speck of pink, violet or purple on it but there's plenty of yellow. It's okay but in bits, it's a well-built frame but is a two-piece mainframe that pivots in the middle, so not the most dynamically advanced full-bouncer in the world, and i get on better with my GT LTS bikes.

Tried a woman's bike and couldn't get my KOP and the reach was cramped .. if you're only going to use it to do a couple of miles to the shops and back it'd be fine but if you're cycling longer distances / more seriously I really wouldn't consider it.

My local shop carries Giant and I've always been a little grumpy over the nice paint schemes on the Liv frames - way more tasteful to my liking than the men's frames.

On a related note to WSD frames, I'm going to be riding my wife's Specialized Amira this winter. We are both about the same size and whenever I've test ridden it after maintenance, I thought to myself that it was a sweet ride.

To the OP, buy the $75 bike.

I have put thousands of miles on a supposedly "women's specific" Dawes from BD and I love it.

The question isn't how the bike was marketed, the question is whether the bike fits you.

I use a longer stem as @musicmaster mentioned, above, because usually the biggest difference between "men's" and "women's" bikes is a little top tube, proportionately.

It is a bicycle. If you cannot decide if it suits your needs, A.) leave it for someone who will appreciate it and B.) find what does suit your needs.

If this bike suits your needs .....

As some posters have noted, size and fit are the most important considerations. The bike itself doesn't know the sex of the rider. Bike manufacturers market women specific stuff in order to enlarge the market and make more money. Few men would wear their wife's pink jersey even if it fit well. Even the ski industry makes women specific skis, as if a 150 lb. female skier is any different from an 150 lb. skier. There is a lot of marketing hype that goes into all outdoor gear and clothing.

I had a very nicely done WSD commuter fuji 700c drop bar that sat in the shop for sale for seemed like over a year, ridden 10 miles before returning. 1600usd original price, cut to 700. Would show it to dozens of people who fit and said it had all they needed. Then they saw the "womens" decal next to frame material and suddenly dark purple was emmasculating. It was like a light switch and to a certain degree a little funny.

I like using this bike especially when the streets may be slippery. Easy quick dismount and foolproof coaster brake with 100% reliability in all weather/road conditions.
