Thru Axle bike on Spin Trainer?

Has anyone created a hack to mount a roadbike with thru axle onto a spin trainer? I have a Cyclops training and a 17 Spec Roubaix.

Cycleops wants $60 for $1 worth of hardware. Seems it could be done with stuff from the local hardware store. I don't mind paying for quality...but this seems steep.
