Velocals Masi Beaking Away Downtube decals

How do i keep this short? Because of this forum and the talk of Breaking Away DVDs and my purchase of the film (hadn't seen it in years), I'm building one*. So thanks a lot! I wasn't going to build another bike!

I ordered some decals from Australia that look nice but are flat/matte finish. I'll be adding these to an already painted frame so needed glossy. Started a conversation with Christine @ Velocals and they added them to their website! The image is an illustration but gives the option of letter color and border color. So if there are any Breaking Away fans who don't want to trim the 'MASI' from the usual decal set check them out.

I have a an original 1978 Gran Criterium in black with these same truncated decals. I always wondered why my frame lacked the flags and the “Gran Criterium” logo. The orange Gran Criterium in Breaking Away ridden by the star (the bike is a star itself) also lacked the flags and Gran Criterium designation as well (I believe).

Folks at MASI are in San Diego county now, owned by Haro bikes. I would call them and ask. They are fans.

I've got the whole set on order from velocals, with the decal tweaks of the 78 California MASI. Will start a separate thread soon. I was going to wait until finished, but may not have the patience I know this bike has been done and done before. Read everything I could find. And as others have, watched the film frame by frame. But, sometimes ya gotta do what ya gotta do D'Ohhh!

Fun side: Anyone ever notice the sand? bag duck taped to the top tube of the 'crash' bike?

My downtube decals arrive today! Rest on the way. Just wanted to show you the updated additions on Velocals. Before this the seat tube bands lacked the white stripes. So excited! D'Ohhh!
