That's why most of us who plan on riding more than a few miles from home carry tools, patch kits, and spare tubes. When I'm riding 40 miles from home and have a flat tire, the last thing I want to do is call my wife to come get me when I can carry the equipment I need to effect a repair. Done it before, I'm sure I'll have to do it again eventually.

How am I a sucker for not joining the dog-pile on the guy? He's obviously massively clueless, that's why he keeps coming to us in frustration when one of his 'why doesn't this work the way i want it to?' ideas doesn't work out, and the stress of walking a mile, after getting a flat tire, is enough to make him call an ambulance?
There's enough people IRL who think I'm an @$$hole, no reason I need to be one here, too, but the OP's persistent cluelessness is bordering on psychological deficit. Beating up on him won't make me feel better.

No offense: Slime sucks. It caters to the lazy. It is not going to seal any significant issue like a wood screw would leave. It pisses me off that auto manufacturers are going to it instead of a mini-spare as a weight savings measure. Learn to replace a tube. I can have it done in a couple minutes flat at this point, and then patch (if possible) the bad tube when I get home. If you really insist on the stuff, get the tubes already filled with it.
Your bike does not suck because Wal-Mart doesn't sell long valve tubes for it. Any bike shop in America, most sporting goods stores, and probably half of the Wal-Mart and related big box stores will have them. That is a really common size.
All my tools and spare tube fit in a small saddlebag. My pump is mounted to my frame, I don't care much about elegance as I do practicality and not walking, but if you do, there are many small pumps that fit in a jerseys pocket or that at elast hide better than the big one you've got bungeed to the rack.

Well, ain't I a big damn hero?
Seriously, tho, by the quantity/quality of the writing, especially the description of his bike's 'features' as well as the condition of the room it's parked in, i'm thinkin' there may be some other factors at play besides extreme cluelessness.

Seriously, I'll avoid any armchair diagnoses of the guy, but I respect where you're coming from on this.
I do think, however, that there is a difference between dogpiling and pointing out truthfully that he knows a lot less than he thinks he does. If enough people say that to him, maybe that reality will sink in and he'll be better able to take in the info he needs to do what he wants to do.

By the way, this is what I use as a tool kit for my very long rides. I can actually fit the pump and tools in it, and I leave it on the bike when I lock it up--since it looks just like a water bottle, no one messes with it. I find that people steal pumps when they're visible for some reason:
https://www.amazon.com/SKSAE-10368-C...X4GAQSKWPJB2PM
It isn't big enough to fit tubes, but everything else goes in there, including a bottle of lube. There are cheaper versions than this, but I can't vouch for them.

Here is that Discover of mine now with apes and the custom rack tool bag, a Walmart rubber shaving bag with yellow bungees and the Bell pump on top. The rear taillight is not blocked since the shaving (or saving, could save my life someday on the bikeway) bag has low profile.

Hey, here's a thought: Have you considered that your chest pain might be caused by the unusual posture caused by your handlebars? Since virtually no adult has ever tried to ride distance with those, I really don't know how having your arms up like that would feel. It wouldn't surprise me if you're cramping up or just keeping muscles in a strained position. Nerves in that area are rather large, so it's often difficult to identify the source of the pain.
And I get that motorcycle riders do it, but they're not pedaling and their posture is quite different.

Not a biker myself, but my impression of the purpose of the more extreme ones is coolness, not comfort.

I have my doubts this thread will become much more useful.
@JonBailey I'm starting to see a pattern with your posts. My suggestion to you would be to read more . . . read, read, read, read, read, read, read, read . . . and post less for awhile. You can learn a lot from the wealth of experience your fellow members have to offer.
