Went for a ride. Lots of people out after several rainy days. Weather was clear and a bit cool mid 50’s. Felt great to get out. About 10 miles including detour around roadwork.

I went to the dentist for a routine checkup.
Especially weird is that his receptionist/office-clerk is black.

I worked. Didn't want to ride my bike to work being 3 degrees outside, but car battery was too weak. On ride home fell off my bike on an icy hill. Fantastic day all around.

I skipped my ride on Sunday and watched the football instead, then did my Sunday ride on MLK day. 50 miles up to Oahu North shore over to Waimea Bay and back. No surf, but the road was pretty packed anyway.

Used to live in Oxnard, and had strawberries a block from my house. Used to get a flat of berries for nine bucks. I bike-commuted to work (Naval Base) and the workers would be out in the fields in the morning as I rode by.

They are still out there. The amount of vegetables, fruits and produce generated from Oxnard is just amazing. A true salad bowl.

I worked, and as usual, I rode my old Novara Trionfo that I got about 6 months ago as a frame with brakes ( with straight bars & 9 speed drivetrain).

I thought about how far we have come, and how far we have to go with regards to racism and fear spawned hate.

I am 67, so have seen alot, and am hopeful!

Last time I knew it was MLK Day was when I last used a paper calendar. No idea when it is. Must have been 2 weeks ago. I know it's on a Monday so I worked. Not sure why anyone would do anything else if you're not retired, maybe this should be in the over 50's section .

INTERESTING and RELEVANT question. I started reading Road to Valor, the story of Gino Bartali, the tow time TDF winner and his heroic and courageous life saving activities during WW 2.
