My typical Saturday ride is 45-60mi all on the road. I occasionally do a supported charity imperial century. My bag fit 1 tube, 2 CO2 carts with valve & tire levers. I carry consumables like food & Nuun tabs in my pockets. Last week, miles from nowhere, I got a small cut in my tire. I thought it was small enough that I could put in a new tube and be on my way (I was not aware of the dollar bill trick). It worked for about 100 yards and the second tube blew resulting in that call I dread making to my wife. Please through the bike rack in the car and pick me up.

So I bought a larger bag that now holds 2 tubes, 3 C02 carts with valve, tire leavers and a nifty multi-tool. There is a little space left. What are you guys carrying in your saddle bags?

Having walked because no one answered the phone when I called I sympathize fully. Bikes aren't meant to be carried. I also moved to a slightly larger seat bag. With a larger bag (talking a couple more cubic inches) you can carry a bit more that makes issues easier to handle.

- Identification in case I can't explain who I am
- Spare tube and patches (because somedays we get two flats)
- 1 x US $1 bill (I'm Canadian and would have to carry a $5 as we use coins for $1 and $2 and coins don't work for holes in tires)
(Someone on here suggested a small piece of sail cloth which works better than $1 bill or even a small piece of bike tire. On Youtube someone tested a piece of heavy duty duct tape carried wrapped around a 2 inch piece of plastic like a pen and it worked as well as a Park tire boot - or just carry the Park boot).
- Kool stop bead jack for tough tires (there are many threads here about installing cruel tires especially in cold weather)
- I like the Crank Brothers Speedier levers
** I know these are a bit bigger than those tiny levers that fit in tiny bags but they work better with cold hands and you don't crush knuckles
- 2 x CO2 carts with adjustable valve
- Presta to Schraeder adapter so you can use real world air pumps
- 1 x US $1 bill (I'm Canadian and would have to carry a $5 as we use coins for $1 and $2 and coins don't work for flats)
- Consumables/snacks if you wish
- key for pinhead locks if you have them
- 2 x small zip ties
- Maybe a multi-tool as a luxury item incase something comes loose....**********

On longer rides I have a cell carrier on the front as well and that holds a few bills for spending cash as well though usually I can fit it in seatbag.

Ps Bianchigirll has a flask mounted on one of her frames. After all if you have to wait for a ride, why not sip while you wait.....?

2 inner tubes, 1 set tyre levers, patch kit, set of spanners and that's about it. If it's for longer than a weekend, I may add another patch kit and some brake pads, but that's about it.

In addition to the typical multi tool, tube, Co2, etc. I also carry a few Benadryl, Advil and Immodium tabs and an emergency lense wipe for my glasses.

The bag on my gravel bike also contains a .5 oz bottle of chain lube with dropper cap.

My fixed gear bike has a 15 mm stubby combo wrench.

I'm liking the patch kit idea. Any recommendations? Will a tube patch put on the inside of a tire repair a cut in the tire?

I ride a recumbent with three bags. The removable seat back bag carries my Camelbak, U-lock, Identification (usually I just throw my whole wallet in), and any miscellaneous stuff that I don't want to leave on the bike.

The small frame bag on the rear swingarm carries a patch kit, 2 spare inner tubes (one each for the different sized front/rear), tire pump, work gloves for changing tires, and a small tool kit.

The bag on the rack is generally empty unless I'm getting groceries, or my clothes when commuting to work.

Bag has 1 tube, 2 CO2 canisters w/valve, tire lever, and multitool (thinking I should add a patch kit and dollar bill, just in case). After getting two flats in a row and having to call for a ride home, I've started carrying another tube and a mini-pump in a jersey pocket.

You're running tubes, right.?? Patch the tube and don't be concerned about the slashed tire. You can get a patch kit at Walmart for 00.98 cents. 5 bucks you can have 4 patch kits and each kit comes with 5 or 6 patches. Don't leave home without it....

Tried carrying a tube in my pocket on a century once. Drove me crazy. Love the Transonic btw.

Ps just realized I forgot I'm allergic to bee stings so having been stung, I add an epi-pen. Still not a lot to carry.

I carry one new tube, a patch kit, tire levers, 4,5,6, allen wrench, 35 mm film cannister filled with quarters, And Two two-pack benadryl pills. On the two that dont have a frame pump peg I put in a small pocket size pump (on the other two I just use a full size frame pump). And finally I wrap a toe strap around the saddle bag.
The two packs of benadryl is in case if allergic reaction in the middle if nowhere and the toe strap is in case of flat I can just fold flat tube and bundle to outside of saddle bag. Btw all that fits into this size bag. I've found this to be sufficient for rides up to 100 miles in my area.

It's taking a little getting used to, since I'm only used to having my phone and food in my pockets. But with a rubber band holding the tube and pump together, it doesn't move too much and is tolerable (going to try it in the middle pocket later today, I've only been carrying in my side pockets, and oddly enough the left pocket is more comfortable than the right). Thanks, I absolutely love this bike!

My standard for road cycling: 2 tubes, 2 CO2 cartridges with inflator, patch kit, tire levers, allen key set (3, 4, 5, 6), and sometimes, a really tiny emergency hand pump. I'll bring a slightly larger hand pump for longer solo rides and gravel. Gravel also gets a bandanna and a few Band-Aids.

I have cash, as well as some Park Tool tire boots, in my wallet.

A dollar bill is a great tire boot.

I carry a twenty for larger cuts.

I actually had boot a riding buddy's tire with a $20 because I had no smaller bills and he had none. I made sure to get it back at the end of the ride.

On my hybrid, I carry a spare tube, patch kit, presta-to-schrader adaptor, pliers-type multitool, chain breaker w/ quick links, tire levers, and a small automotive patch to use as a tire boot if needed. I also carry a couple of rubber gloves in case I need to work on the chain, a very small bottle of hand sanitizer, and a few band-aids & some folded up paper towels in a ziploc bag in case of emergencies.

On my gravel bike, I carry spare tube, patch kit, tire levers, small wrenches for the axle nuts since they're not quick release, some spare schrader valve cores since that bike is schrader-only, and valve core removal tools.
