It is a new wave cell helmet. It has plastic cells to absorb crashes. And it is only $300!!!!!!!!!!!
Personally I wish Bell would bring back their Tourlite helmet with the shell that was lexan, and thick enough to be of real protection.

The science is a bit suspect because the researchers hold the patent for the technology. It'll be interesting to see if their findings get replicated.
I don't have a lot of faith in the impact experiments generally as they are built on a lot of assumptions in the absence of good data on how heads actually get impacted in real crashes.
Looks like you can get one for $150. I'd have to try one on to see if they're tolerable. Also, want to know if they're fairly durable. Some gels deteriorate rather easily.

Hmmmmm, well that doesn't really revolutionize cycling at all does it? Safety maybe, but not cycling. I'm disappointed. And besides, I'm not sure my noggin is worth $300.

If it was a real improvement of protecting the head from concussion brain injuries , & CTE.

The secret - green synthetic seaweed! (Have they faithfully captured the smell?)
So now we are spared of having to pay $50 or more for our MIPS helmets. And with their exclusive rights to this "seaweed", they never have to bring the prices down.

Lame. I was seriously looking forward to my crash-proof flying bicycle.
Maybe WaveCel is better than Koroyd, maybe it's not, but the fact is that Trek is not the first company to experiment with something other than foam in a bike helmet. The only difference (if I understand it correctly) is that Bontrager completely eliminates foam, whereas Smith retains a bit in some areas of the helmet.
