Major Bummer!! Last minute saddle thread.

A week from today I am planning to ride a 100 mile Jeep trail in a day. This comes with plenty of logistical and comfort challenges but I just encountered a new one.

A few weeks ago, I swapped seats to a brand new Fabric Line Shallow. I like the design and I can see how it's comfortable but so far, it's developed hot spots for me. So I figured I just needed to adjust it. I put my bike in the trainer and got the level and got to work. I did manage to get it better but I discovered the root of the problem. The seat is bent or is a manufacture defect!! The left side of the seat is 3/8" higher than the right, this correlates perfectly to a sore I have on my left butt. I've never wrecked this seat, dropped the bike, or even leaned it over (I hang the bike on hooks).

I actually did notice a major improvement with some adjustments I made but fact is, this sucker is wonky. I'm at a loss. I don't have a LBS in this town, everything I get has to get ordered.

So here are my options

-Ride the seat as I have it. It'll erode a hole in my butt but I'll heal. I can even plan on on this and bring some Mepilex for the last few hours.
-Replace the seat with something in my garage, a new old Ritchey Vector or an old Flite. Both in great shape but I'm not thrilled about 10+ on either.
-Ride the seat from my road bike, an SLR with cutout. Best seat I've owned but possibly too hard for such a ride and it's extremely uncomfortable until it's dialed in, and there is no guarantee I'd get my final adjustments right in a week. And this would screw up the perfect adjustment I have on my road bike.

I'm really hoping someone comes by with some simple trick to fix the Fabric myself.

Either way, pain is fleeting and I'm very excited for this upcoming trip!!

Can you just order a new one and hope it's not messed up like the current one, and deal with returning the current messed up one later?

Fabric Line Race Shallow - $105
https://www.backcountry.com/fabric-line-race-saddle

The Race version is pricey but it comes with free two day shipping.

Kevin Schaefer is at 801-619-7467 ext 2354 if you want to order over the phone. IIRC they are in Utah.

I'm one with more saddles than bikes. you too can buy extras ..

a big benefit if you got extras when they stopped selling or making that one *

*(san marco concor Max is one I should have hoarded extras, 30 years ago.. ).

May have been a defect and one of the rails bent on you with no fault of your own. If its weak metal even if you bend it straight may do it again. I'm sure no problem getting another in time with 2 day shipping but hope not a defect with those saddles. Thats going to be a great epic ride and a bad saddle sure could make it a nightmare fast. Too bad you don't have a tried and true saddle to use. Good luck on the adventure!
