Help Please - buying used bike

Looking for a used bike to just ride around with my kids. Only requirements is a mountain bike and a larger frame and/or larger wheels as the bike is for someone who is 6'1". Not looking to spend more than about $100 right now.
Here are some options I've found. Any tips or advice is greatly appreciated as I don't know much about bikes at all!!

GT timberline mountain bike - listed for $80
20 inch cromoly triple triangle frame
21 speed
26 inch alloy araya wheels with nice tires
Exage 300lx
3 piece alloy cranks
Exage 400lx derailleurs
Trigger shifters

Trek 7000 mountain bike, Early 2000's - listed for $100
Cantilever brakes
Shifters/Derailleurs work well and the brakes are tight but do not rub
Components are mixture of shimano parts ranging from SIS to Deore

I'm 183cm (6'), I would take the Giant. From those descriptions it should fit best, and has a realstic description. Especially nice since you can then talk about riding a giant iguana.
