Best way to remove chain grease from white socks?

I wear white socks and can honestly say I've never had a problem with grease or oil getting on them. I use 80/90W manual transmission oil as a chain lube, and I wipe off any extra after putting fresh oil on the chain. Maybe the oil's thickness prevents it from flying off ?
FWIW: I ride a lot in the early morning darkness, so white socks and shoes help me keep visible. Shoes are tennis court shoes used with MTB 'pinned'-style pedals, which are somewhat stiff compared to other non-cycling-specific shoes. The shoes do pick up road grime, but that's easy to wipe off with a rag.

My socks seldom get dirty from cycling. Or, maybe I just don’t look at them very closely. Plus, I don’t wear white socks when I ride.

You’ve discovered why bike shorts are traditionally black. Change your flat tire, wipe your dirty hands on your shorts. Weeks later think about it and wash your shorts. Enjoy.

Look at what the bike mechanics wear in the pro tours (and probably at your LBS), typically black from head to toe. Guess why.

Strangely enough if you rub in the stain a good high detergent synthetic motor oil like Mobil 1, and then a good detergent soap the stain will come out. The motor oil will remove oil based paint stains to if they are not too dry.

BTW I wear short cotton socks like Gold Toe year around. I would have to try real hard to get grease on them.
