Looking for a new saddle
I currently have a Trek 1000 with the stock saddle but I'd like to upgrade. Any recommendations? I find the stock one to be a bit wide. I would like a narrow one with the whole in the middle that's supposed to relieve pressure in the naughty area.

You don't HAVE to have the hole. THere are many properly designed seats that have and don't have the hoe-you just need to find one that works for you. I highly recommend the Fizik Alainte.

Holy crap. That's a nice saddle but $230.00 is quite alot out of my budget. I'd like to spend less than $100.00, if possible.

I got a New Fizik Arione off of eBay for under 100 shipped. I haven't ridden it yet but I have high hopes... A lot of very glowing reviews out there. But, they don't have the love hole you're looking at. Terry Fly is supposed to be very nice and I think it does have a cutout. They are always around for less than $100

You don't have to spend full price-I just got a new one off ebay for $129. (Alainte ti). The worst part about getting a seat is that it needs to fit YOU. I found the Alainte works for me on my road bike, my mountain bike (why I bought the new one to replace the crash damaged SDG), and on my cyclocross bike.

There's always a Brooks .
Mine definitely puts pressure in exactly two spots: one sit bone on each side. Absolutely no pressure on my (which was one of the complaints I had about the original saddle on my bike). I paid $93 which included a "saddle care kit" (proofide leather treatment, wrench for tightening the adjustment bolt even though you only need to do it like once every year or more, and cloth for applying the proofide), saddle cover, and shipping. Some people find them even cheaper, but I bought from Wallingford Bikes who has a 6-month no-questions-asked return policy if you don't like the saddle.

Has anyone here tried out the Specialized Alias saddle? It "looks" comfortable. But then again I guess until you get on it you won't know.

I have an allez elite which came with an avatar saddle. My lbs let me try an alias for a couple of rides, felt good for the first 20 miles or so.After about 35 I was really starting to hate it. Went back to the avatar and that's what I'll stay with.

I have a Selle San Marco SKN which I would guess is cheap in the USA. My training rides are usually around the 100 K's and it fits me perfectly. Never any pain. Of course we're all built different though.
I appologise for the size of the pic.

Find an LBS near you and see if they'll let you try a saddle out before committing to the purchase. I got my Arione for $107 USD shipped to Canada from eBay and I have to admit that it has lived up to its reputation.
The hole in the middle is not strictly necessary. I find that the Arione is both more comfortable and supportive than the Selle Italia SLR gel flow I had previously.
