Wahoo Tickr Fit Arm Band HRM Review

I like having heart rate data on rides but have never liked the mansierre feeling of wearing a chest strap sensor and the straps get so sweaty they didn't last all that long.

For Father's Day, my wife and daughter got me the new Wahoo Tickr Fit arm band sensor - mainly because I sent them email that it was on sale for Father's Day... I've done a dozen rides or so wearing it, over 500 miles, and really like it. So far, the strap seems as durable as Wahoo's chest straps (which for me were a big improvement over Polar's), accuracy seems equivalent to the chest strap and it is much more comfortable. I've been wearing it on my bicep, supposedly more accurate on your upper forearm but for some reason I find it more comfortable on my bicep.

The only negatives are that it is more expensive (the 20% sale closed the gap a bit) and you have to remember to turn it on at the start of a ride It uses a rechargeable battery vs. a replaceable one - to me that is a plus but may mean the sensor may not last as long.

I have one and I like it a lot. Very comfortable on my upper arm and the accuracy is good enough. I have found it gets flaky when it's really hot and I'm sweating a lot. I haven't done any real long rides with it yet, only as long as maybe 5-6 hours, but the battery has held up fine. I recharge after every ride. It works well with my Wahoo Elemnt and also at a spin studio I go to when the weather is bad. I find the data helpful to know whether I'm overdoing it.

I've used mine for 600 miles, and it's been very useful to me. I had a problem in which the HRM seemed to turn itself off for several minutes at a time and then back on. Wahoo service did some reasonable troubleshooting, then sent a warranty replacement without hassle. I'm very grateful to them.

I did a 30-day (well, really 21 days, since the company that supplied the HRM effed up) HRM thing, and the max HR measured by the device my doc arranged for was about the same as the max HR reported by the Tickr Fit at about the same time. I cut the test short because after 21 days with no problems, neither my doc nor I thought any anomalies would show up.
