What size quick release skewer do I need?
I have a Gary Fisher Wahoo mountain bike which, at this point, I use exclusively for riding around town towing my daughter in bike trailer. I just purchased a new used trailer - the Trek GoBug - that will hold my other daughter. I went to install it this morning and it looks like my existing rear quick release skewer is not long enough to accommodate the trailer adapter. It adds probably 1/4" of additional space whereas the last took up about 1/16".
How can I determine the proper size/length for a replacement quick release skewer that will allow for the trailer adapter to fit?
Thanks in advance!

You must go get a cheap caliper measurement tool. Get something at least 6" long. Something that's accurate down to about 1/2mm. After you measure it, you will know what size you need.

Skewers seem to have a range of spans it will work for. The range basically being the distance on the skewer to threading plus the length of the threads. So it doesn't have to be that exact.
I was hoping to see various skewer sizes for sale and being able to simply pick one whose range seemed to work. I don't see very many skewers advertised as long or extra long...
