Hi Mod Carbon
 

I have a Cannondale carbon frame mountain bike, I am considering upgrading to the Hi Modulus frame as it is lighter, stiffer and has better damping/shock absorption.

I know how much lighter it is, but I don't how much stiffer or how much more shock absorbing the Hi-Mod frame would be.

Does anyone know how much better a Hi-Mod frame would be than a standard carbon frame?

on a mtb no idea,

on a road bike the hi-mod is the only reason I went to a supersix, otherwise I would have stayed on Caad 10/12 etc.... That is for stiffness reasons.

I have no idea on vibration dampening between the frames. road surfaces vary so much and i run so many different tires. plus it is too easy to acclimatize to whatever you are riding.

If you have the money, buy the hi-mod

The way Cannondale describes it is that there is no difference in ride qualities. They are designed to ride the same in all respects. The only difference is weight. I have never ridden hi-mod and regular back to back in the same configuration so I can't say for sure. YMMV

hi-mod carbon doesn't absorb shock better than the lower mod carbon. It's actually the other way around.

If true, I'm glad I have a plain jane Six, although it looks just like a SuperSix.
