Tube patch sticking out

I have 700 x 18/23c tube i need to patch. I’ll be using it as spare. The smallest patch i have is 25mm and it sticks out a bit on the tube. Is it ok to cut the patch? I have lots of these bigger patches i never use. Do you guys do this? Won’t the cut patch’s edge possibly puncture the tube at some point? I can’t find smaller 15mm patches here. Decathlon has them, but they aren’t available atm.

Never tried that, but it should be ok. What's to lose by trying?

I cut or trim these type patches all the time. typically making big ones small or rounding square ones.

First time i’ve seen that type of patch.

Anyway, i’ve asked Park Tool and they said it’s ok to cut up the regular patches. I’ve got lots of those big round and rectangular patches i haven’t used.

Thanks for the replies.

I used to cut them w/o problems. Then I got the small Rema linked above, very nice.

That's something that always kinds of bugs me. I know there's a couple different rema kits you might see in the LBS, but the ones I most easily find have many of the bigger patches which I have never had a use for. I have a crap load of them sitting around from rema boxes where I used all the little round ones.

Back in the day it was the only kind of patch.
Or you had the hot patch kit, but they were usually too big for bike tubes.
