Falling and getting back on the bike

Below is a video of two ladies in a competition. They both end up falling from the bike while doing handstands within the first 4 seconds of their routine (fall is around 0:40). It could easily be viewed as a disaster, but they get back on their bike and end up winning the competition.

Anyways, that video inspired this post, so I wanted to share. :)

From what I see their routine is pretty stellar, but we didn't see the other competitors so there's nothing to compare them to. An interesting bow.

The post was meant to be more about getting up and trying again after falling. This could happen in almost any bike sport. Many times in X-Games BMX street final I've seen riders fall off their bikes in the first run (and even sometimes in the second round!) and just hand in the towel when there's still a great deal of time on the clock. I understand it's thought of as a 'getting a feel for the course' round, but you might as well use all the time you have while you're there.

Hmmm. I've always thought a DNF is worse than not getting back into the race, if your capable.

If you're talking non-competitive falls, well sometimes you just got to walk it off for a while* especially if it knocks the wind out of you. :)

*If you're not hurt.

It’s not about how many times you fall...

Another one:

Fall down 7 times, stand up 8.

Even their fall was done so gracefully it looked like part of the routine.

That was a breathtaking performance.
