First flat in 4000+ miles

Experienced the first flat in over 4000 miles today. Freshly broken glass and boy was it sharp! Zefal HP pump to the rescue.

Do you have someone sweep the roads in front of you? :)

I've had several punctures in the past couple of weeks, all on my gravel bike. I've come to appreciate my tubeless setup, except for cleaning sealant off the bike.

Which tires? I am looking for new tires with great flat protection but they have to ride well. I have Bontrager H5 Ultimate and while great flat protection, horrible rolling.

Yes, I'm curious about what tires as well. I love my Zefal HP

Cool story, bro!

A little experiment I've been doing since last October is putting tubeless sealant (Stan's, Orange seal, Bontrager TLR), NOT Slime, in my tubes with a variety of tires with good ride quality, and have had zero flats. I've made a couple of videos documenting the terrain and tire/tube set-up. This is on my daily commuter bike which sees about 36 miles round trip.

Tannus Armour - bringing back tubes!

Run-flat ability in the event you rode over... well i don't even know what.
Greater ride quality, due to lower pressures required, the deflection being more in the sidewall than the contact patch if you run low.

At least the claims are good. I'm tempted by these. Not cheap, though. Each costs more than the tyre and tube put together...

Using Continental el cheapo tires. 700x28. Get lots of miles out of them and few punctures. Should have 6000 miles out of this set. Of course they do get rotated twice during their useful lifetime. Have a pair of Conti City Ride tires that have never gone flat. Nope, neither tire rides particularly well such as a 220tpi tire, but I am 235 pounds and can make any tire flex enough to be satisfactory!

Now you've gone and done it!! The next flat will come much sooner now that you've "jinxed" yourself. Kidding--I hope you can go at least another 4000 without a flat.
