As a neurologist, I simply had to buy a Cervélo.

Cervelo offers a $2500 105 bike. You might as well wear a high end Seiko.

(it was kind of a joke, Grand Seikos are great watches but Seiko is kind of a watch-nerd's brand, as opposed to a rich-man's brand, simply because they make great stuff all the way up and down the price range, which defeats the purpose of why most people buy super-high-end mechanical watches, which is conspicuous consumption. no point buying a Vacheron Constantin if someone can go and plop down $500 for one with the same brand name on it

It’s way over-hyped but I still wouldn’t mind owning a Snowflake.

The burning question I have is, if someone wants to become a dentist or a lawyer, do they get a Cervelo to speed up the process?

Real people on a group ride don't act like people do here, myself included. If I'm not right about that, I'd worry about your riding group, not the frame you're picking out.
I think the attitudes about Cervelo you mention, as much as they ever really existed, probably peaked around 5-10 years ago, when they were newer and hot and triggered more envy. I think it's just another brand now that makes competitive frames.
Anyway, since I'm not on a ride with real people and just shooting off anonymously on the internet, here are my bike brand/people associations:
Cervelo/Trek/Specialized/Canyon/Felt/BMC/Cannondale/etc: Someone who likes to ride and is better off financially than the kid in Asia with epoxy-stained fingers who put it together.
Merlin/Serotta/Seven/Moots/etc: "What's wrong with remaining on the saddle and hoods when sprinting?"
Mosaic/Crumpton/Parlee/Open/etc: "Should I allow my employees to follow me on Strava or will that depress morale?"
Giant/Mongoose/Unbranded/Whatever: *checking email for latest BIKE BLOWOUT SALE*

I still am mad about not being able to find a used Prodigy back in the day, let alone a Superprodigy. R2's look pretty nice and reasonably priced for a 105 bike.
Also I can't remember why, but something about the internal cable routing meant that the 2010-2012 Cervelo S2 is specifically called out for a surcharge on a local bike shop's repair menu.
(really, Cervelo's dubiousness these days is less from dentists and more from that gang of ill repute, the triathletes)

All I know is that the 19 year old on the Sora Motobecane will smash everyone to bits on any given climb
e) speaking of watches, I remember a joke post about the heirarchies of luxury watch brands- can't remember much, but I remember the top two were something like "billionaire watches which will get you mugged" and "billionaire watches which won't get you mugged because nobody has heard of them". Wonder what the bike equivalent of the latter is, probably some custom Italian builder?

You'll have to tell me. I put it in the same category as Mosaic, or other beautiful bespoke hand-built frames that would be heartbreaking to lay down in a crash, but I am sure there is a subculture I can't adequately read among these brands. For example, you may roll up on your Engin and scoff at the Independent Fabrication rider who foolishly believes that shot peen is a good way to stress relieve titanium. Or: "Frank and his anodized logos -- ha! That makes the titanium harder and is just asking for a crack! He is a darn fine barista, though."
When I was a kid and ended every ride I could by hanging out at the snob/racer's bike shop, the owner would take down the brand new Merlin Extralight frame from its hook in the ceiling and let me hold it. I'd just stare at the welds while it rested ever so lightly in my finger tips. I coveted the way its tubes were just a little fatter than my steel bike. All its bends and angles. The MERLIN stamped into the dropout. The way the decals luxuriously conformed to the dictionary and used all the right letters to come up with "EXTRALIGHT."
Seeing what the high end titanium makers are doing sparks those same feelings in me. Absolute beauty that is not going to be ridden by me.

I've seen kids here on Moots. I'm assuming all of them have a job with the word "operations" in the title at Amazon or something.

Cervelo P-series bikes are the tri-bikes. I don't have anything resembling sales figures but I legitimately wouldn't be surprised if they make more money from tri-bikes than road bikes these days.

How many Cervelo owners does it take to change a light bulb?
I don't have a good answer, just thought someone might know.

They do offer Potenza and Centaur in all-silver options, which is nice if you're upgrading a vintage bike to modern 11-speed.
