Any reason OP felt the need for such a formal declaration?
IMHO it usually means they had(or created)some bad experiences on other forums...

Yep, training for "time trials" is serious business, not to be confused with mere "pleasure riding."

Reasonably reasonable. Not too bright though. We keep falling for these same kind of threads, over and over again.

We're all here to throw in some thoughts and opinions. But it only takes a few comments to turn anything into a b*tching session.

Youtube has a whole bunch videos showing new bicycle gadgets. Mostly just bells and whistles that will make you worry more about getting them stolen than your convenience.

A quick Google will reveal that OP is "well known" on the internet, so either is possible.

I'm confused with what's going on, what the problem is. To me, it's possible that the OP is just old-fashioned and used to formally introducing themselves (where that type of thing was expected and taught to the older generation, when writing correspondence). There are several articles and videos about them, online (I read one).

About the OP not responding, to me, it's possible that they could be busy (not everyone is online, all the time; has a cellphone; or is retired), or a little shy (having strangers immediately criticize a new person for sharing their own feelings and experiences can cause a person to be more reluctant and cautious about reading responses and/or exposing or sharing more about themselves, again, after that).

My square-taper bottom brackets are hollow!
Plenty of scope for a thread, though I suspect they'll be open for much ridicule..

Wanting stuff that's built to last half your life is such an old-people thing, showing your age there...

I'd be interested in new ideas about technology, but to be honest I have to warn that new ideas in this forum are subject to ridicule, "a solution in search of a problem" and "no one will want this". So if you are easily discouraged, I advise against.

So basically you are saying that the OP needs/wants to find an online forum where they are guaranteed to only be met with total agreement on everything they post?
Especially as it pertains to something so non-divisive as new technology
Pretty sure the Spesh Future Shock has already cause bar-room brawls and broken up multiple marriages all by itself.

I think a lot of us are willing to discuss new technology, but OTOH a newbie is likely to want to discuss something they just saw advertised, which ends up being the latest iteration of a failed idea. We won't know which is it until it's brought up, so I say, "bring it!"

Well, OP "brought it" and started a tire thread the very same day. Curiously, it doesn't seem he had anything to contribute.

Sure, but only if your skin is thick enough to sort through all of the usual curmudgeons and clowns. Far too many around here are convinced their opinions are facts and they’re not shy about letting the world know, so if you’re the sensitive type consider this a warning.
So he should have stopped after "reasonable forum."

I'm pretty sure that if you studied it systematically, you would find that most new technology that "improves" on technology that has been performing well for decades flops commercially. Skepticism of "new" stuff is healthy so long as you keep a reasonably open mind. And the usual "they laughed at the Wright Brothers" nonsense whenever anyone expresses some skepticism could definitely use a rest. I'll go with "They didn't laugh at Elizabeth Holmes" as my go-to response from now on.
