Flectr Clip

I backed the Flectr Clip on Kickstarter. I plan to use the one that would be installed to the rear of the bike seat saddle. This has an orange-red color, and is more reflective. Would this be a good substitute for a red rear reflector?

Hmmm. Taillights and rear reflectors are typically red, not amber.

That might be tape applied over plastic. I used that tape on my bikes and it does reflect a red-orange, but it's close enough. Best part is that, unlike the 3-D honeycomb reflectors, it reflects the same from all angles.

I'll definitely give this one a try, and hopefully come up with a plan to keep it from falling off

Are you still talking about the Flector Clip? Does it not hold itself in place securely? There are only two things a bike mounted reflector must do - mount to the bike and reflect. #fail

State and/or local laws often specify a red rear light and/or reflector

I plan to use this in conjunction with my red LED lights too. Only problem is the rear reflectors have not been modernized in recent years.

The only thing worth a damn is a good light set that has some brightness. For me reflective gear is fine as fashion but when you require someone else to be shining lights on you to be seen and that is all you have it is not good. I prefer lights first, second and third and then go for reflectivity. It certainly won't hurt anything but without your own lights it can be tough for people to see you.

I also ordered the magnetic clip version of the Flectr Clip. Would it be a good idea to use the silver side as the reflector and glue its magnet onto an old reflector to use as a base?

Promise that you won't use the silver reflector on the rear of your bike.

The silver reflector is intended to be in the front of the bike to be better seen by anything oncoming in the opposite direction.
