The stuff that I use to wash all the other clothes and towels in our house.
Do you use something different, and if so- why? Not critical, but really curious. My bibs, jerseys, caps, and socks are all made of materials that other clothes are made of.

I agree. From my 30+ years of washing cycling clothes and other technical fabrics, I don't think machines reduce lifespan in any meaningful way. Bibs are the only possible item I'd even give a thought to. I've done a lot of hand washing in my day - traveling light, etc. Hand washing is a definite "cost" to me, against what I think is negligible benefit. Drying is a different story - I think excessive heat can degrade many synthetic fabrics, especially if they have elastic/stretch materials.
