Shady dealer or nah?

I was looking at different S-Works online and came across a company named Bicycles of worlds out of Bali. Alarmingly cheap prices, is this a real dealer or has anyone had any experience with them?

sounds like a scam. If the bikes are new they will probably take your money and disappear. If the bike is used what you will get will be completely trashed (I've seen a lot or former soviet block countries selling high-end bikes like this. Unless you are local to the company or know someone that can visit I would avoid at all cost

Fake websites like that are a dime a dozen.
  1. Go to the Specialized website and see if the bike shop is an authorized seller.
  2. Get the street address and look it up on Google street view. Can you actually see a shop?
  3. Prices too good to be true, another red flag as others have pointed out.
  4. Your spidey senses tingling, another red flag.
  5. Ask on Bike Forums and get different opinions. (which you have obviously done)

Assume that any bicycle website in Indonesia is a scam.

If you have any sort of problem with a company in Indonesia, how easy do you think it will be to deal with?

Nothing is cheaper on islands, especially far away ones. The smaller and further the island, the more expensive stuff is. It is, however, easy to not be found on far remote islands.

0. If the website is from a "weird" place (from a US/European perspective), just move on and skip the rest of these steps.

I think what gives it the biggest flag for me is the words "cheap" and "sworks" in the same sentence. That never happens......

Scam, or at least a very very high probability of a scam. No, on second thought, it is a scam.

It would help if the OP got the name right. The actual name on their page is Bicycle World, but their website is Bicycletoworld.com There is a shop with a Specialized sign at the address on Google Street View, but it looks nothing like the shop in their website photos. A quick Google search shows that the Bicycle World logo on their website was stolen from Bicycle World of Waco, Texas and all of the customer photos were taken in front of the Bicycle World of Waco, Texas shop(which is not affiliated in any way) The fact that the photos and logo on their website were stolen from another legitimate company is proof that the Bicycletoworld.com website is a scam.

The company is called "Bicycles of Worlds" and it's in Bali? That on it's own would make me run away.

A NOTE TO EVERYONE: If you have to ask "does this sound shady" or "is this a scam" or "is this legit" probably you shouldn't bother. Do your homework first and if they seem shady they probably are.

Also S-Works frames are frequently faked because they are highly desirable. Buy one from your local bike shop or at the very least an authorized Specialized Retailer. DO NOT BUY A FAKE. Specialized does not have a mystical third shift where they produce the same bicycles that magically go out a back door onto a second market with Ali Baba and his 40 thieves.
