Where can I sell my Jamis Renegade?

I have a brand new Jamis Renegade S3 in size 58. Under 10 miles and perfect condition with receipt (bought a week ago). Selling as it's too small for me.

Where can I sell this?

We have our very own Marketplace forums. https://www.bikeforums.net/road-bike-marketplace/

Selling in our Marketplace is however a privelige reserved for paid forum members. https://www.bikeforums.net/payments.php

The Markeplace is the only place for sales on Bike Forums.

Besides our Marketplace, there is Ebay, Craigslist, Facebook Marketplace, OfferUp, Kijiji...

Obviously you can advertise it here if you pay. It's a nice looking bike but you will take a painful hit, maybe even 50%. Are you sure you can't negotiate a trade?

Wow OK. I think my LBS will take it back but not sure. When I bought it there was a small mark on the saddle and I made it worse bringing down stairs.. hoping this doesn't disqualify me from store credit so trying to sell it.

Maybe a silly question, but have you tried moving the saddle back?

Haha, it's too small as I'm about 6"4 and this is a 58cm. The Saddle height is OK, but top tube is way too short and can't move my saddle back that much. Ended up buying one of the new specialized diverge bikes and want to sell this one.

If you bought it from a shop, did they not advise you as to whether it was the right size? By all means talk to the store you before offering for sale.

Expect to take a big hit if you sell on your own.

Any shop that sells a 58cm to someone who is 6'4" is either knows nothing about sizing or was lying to you just to move merchandise.

This shop sucks big time if they sold you a bike that doesn't fit, and are now refusing to let you return/exchange it after 10 miles of riding.

By all means talk to the shop as this is crazy.

If and only if they don't take it back, don't sell the whole bike and take a huge loss. Purchase a larger frame and have everything switched over, then sell the 58 cm frame. If you are going to take a hit, take it on the frame and not the components and wheels.

You should do better selling it during the Spring covid bike boom vs normal Spring, but expect to take some loss. Hopefully the shop will work with you.

The size 59 has 667mm stack and 404mm reach.
A 58 could easily fit someone 6'4, depending on the actual geometry.

The renegade 58 has 630mm stack and 396 reach. That will fit some people who are 6'3 or 6'4. Not all who are those heights since its borderline, but it'll fit some based on body type.

It is also available in a 61cm size. If he is 6'4" and you recommend the 58cm...what height would even possibly need to be to ride the 61cm? 7 feet tall?

Well I'm 6'5...so my height..

The 58 could work well for someone 6'1-6'5, depending on their individual measurements and the 61 might work for 6'3-6'6 or so.

My point was that a 63cm stack height and just under 40cm reach isn't egregiously so far off base for someone who is 6'3-6'4 that they need to be accused of either lying or knows nothing. That seems like an excessive couple of conclusions to choose from, when the geometey of the bike is considered.

Either way, if it doesn't fit then it doesn't fit.

This post should be a sticky as an example of a complete lack of reading/comprehension and how not to give advice online.
1) OP never stated or even vaguely referenced that the shop refused to take it back.
He in fact states that he thinks they may take it back.
2) People buy bikes all the time that donít fit. OP never once stated why he ended up with this size. It is a good possibility that he is just as much at fault as the shop. At this point how does anyone know they didnít reccomend he go with a different size?

The OP is trying to sell a brand new bike online because it doesn't fit and they aren't sure if the shop they bought it from will allow them to return it.

The next logical step in the conversation is to let the OP (and anyone else reading this thread) know that bike shops should allow a return/exchange in this situation, rather than taking a huge loss selling this bike second hand. The LBS can likely still sell this bike as brand new to another customer since it's barely been ridden, so I'm not sure how finger pointing on the fit plays into the situation.

I'm fairly sure I've read everything correctly here, but please go on with your lecture.

To clarify guys, the bike shop guys were always chill. He had said that they need to review the bike because I confessed before returning that I messed up the saddle a bit while bringing down the stairs.
For sizing:
1. Yes it was partly my mistake, the bike shop guy suggested 61cm but I had spoken to several Jamis owners that insisted they run a size up and get 58cm. Now I know who to trust. And it was ordering online and curbside pickup, I couldn't try before buying

2. The bike shop actually took it back for full *store credit* and helped me purchase the new Specialized Diverge 2021 carbon sport and even gave me a small discount. Oh yes, and in 61cm Size!! This has a reach of 410mm and stack of 659mm. I have quite long arms and legs so this should be good. Plus extra tire clearance, woohoo!

Which one of your steps involved you stating Ďthis shop sucks big timeí ??
Your initial response was clueless and based upon a total lack of comprehension.
You lose. Learn your lesson and move on son...

Silly question but did you not test out a similar bike in size before choosing the current bike?

Sounds like the OP bought it online, due to COVID-19, and did curbside pickup. With many stores closed to in-person shopping it's probably tough to set up test rides right now.
I did the same last week for a bike for my daughter. The LBS helped me size it over the phone, and let me know when I was picking it up that if it didn't fit her, I could return/exchange it.

Yes, I had done curbside pick up. The issue is my LBS just is not letting in people in the store (understandbly), but usually they offer sizing and fitting your bike once you buy it.
