Don't use a spray if you can avoid it. If you have to, at least you probably have a mask.

Most of the ticks I get are presents from my golden retrievers. Just scoop them off with this, and keep an eye out for Lyme disease.

Does that work? Have you tried it on a dog like the video?

I put Deet on my clothes when hiking to ward off mosquitoes, but for ticks I wear Gators. When I'm riding, I wear velcro stretch ankle bands around my pant legs which are over my boots so there is no where for them to get to my skin. And then I check myself over carefully at the end of the day. Usually I only pick up ticks when riding trails and stop for breaks, Don't see them on the roads much... :twitchy:

Deet is probably the most effective option, but it will damage plastics. Maybe carbon fiber finishes too?

I have not seen a tick on me or gotten a mosquito or fly bite wearing it. I have not sprayed a dog with it.

Reportedly eucalyptus tick repellent works almost as well as DEET. Confirmed by tests, not just consumer anecdotes. That surprised me. I've switched between both, no problems. But I avoid areas with ticks so it's not much of a test. I'm mostly a road rider, maybe a little gravel, rarely off road.

The eucalyptus stuff does seem to repel mosquitoes too. Hard to tell, I don't react to mosquito bites but that doesn't mean they don't bite me -- I just don't notice.

Bugbar. Works perfectly against mosquitoes, but not sure about ticks as have not experienced ticks around here. The wife and I have yet to get bit while working in the yard after putting this stuff on our skin.

If you haven't done it already, you should get the Lyme Disease vaccination for your dogs.

I will take ticks any day over chiggers. Those little guys are nasty.

Looks like same repellents as for ticks. Good.

For short term deet strong enough for my lips to tingle.

For being in the woods for a few days, slap on a seresto collar, like around your ankle, a few days before going in. You may still get bit, but they won't live.

chigger bites itch, Lyme disease kills, or flat out ruins lives.

I'd take precaution, and want neither!

Yes I've had chiggers and I've had Lyme disease. As awful as chiggers are I will take them over lyme any day. But mainly I stay out of the weeds, including my own back yard where I have 2 acres of woods.

I found out with having both, that well being HOT is OKAY!

Deet on skin and permethrin on clothes. Depending on the material, some clothing can be sent off and be impregnated with permethrin. I have a crush on the folks at insect shield. Once a year I send them a few outfits to treat.
