Best Floor stand for bikes
 

Im looking for a floor bike stand. Im not looking to wall mount my bike.

Any ideas?

I like this one because it grabs the wheel. All bikes have a wheel.

I have the Feedback that is posted above. It's fine, it works for my needs. This is the stand I use in my house, if it was a garage I might chose something different. Maybe one that isn't spring loaded. When not in use, I slip it under a table as it folds flat.

If you really mean “best”, then probably something like a Park stand that anchors to a concrete floor. If you mean best, but not $400 and I need to fold it up, then there are a lot of choices of less than best.

How many bikes are you looking to store?

Before kids we kept our road and mountain bikes on a rack like this:

It's still my favorite, it was the easiest to get the bikes on and off, and every bike was accessible. Once kids came along that rack didn't work so well with their smaller bikes, so I got something like this:

It worked well but you needed to be able to access both sides to be able to fit all the bikes in, and the kids would often knock out a bike on the other side to get theirs in. Once the kids moved out I went to stands like this since I no longer had enough open floor space for all the bikes in 1 spot.

They sort of suck, the bikes aren't too stable in them, and they tend to slide around. Maybe there are better versions, but I'm not too fond of having all sorts of small stands laying around waiting to trip someone or they get kicked and move from where I last left it. Once I can get the kids to clear out their stuff I'm going back to either the first rack, or if I can clear enough wall space, something like this.

(I have 2 bikes on these now.) I know you don't want a wall mount but it is really nice to get the bikes up and out of the way.

The springs in those didn't last for me, and they did not cradle the wheel very securely.

These bikehand are the best IMO. They hold the bike securely work for different sized tires, and the springs last.

If you're handy with a saw and screwdriver, roughly 12' of 2x2s can make you a stand for under $10. Our homemade stands have worked well at holding up both our single bike and tandem, no complaints!

I used to have a couple that held the bike by the left crank arm. They were real simple and compact and held the bike quite securely. I wish that I had a picture that I could post. One was commercially made from steel and a friend made me a beautiful copy out of wood. I don't have any conventional bicycles anymore so I assume my sons have them now.

I am not a fan of the Specialized Fork Stands, they work fine but are just not super stable so my bike occasionally falls in that one. The Minoura Stand seems to do just fine but it has support on both sides from a chest and a bookcase and three bikes in it. I believe they are DS-10s if not mistaken,

After some looking and comparing I realized Minoura makes the stand I have been wanting and while I like the paint on the other version the DS-4200 is the exact stand I have been looking for and will probably end up buying one Monday (possibly two)

I use a very similar one, but it has the two cones like the earlier link to compensate for various wheel and tire sizes, and can be folded. I use it to store the bike in the basement and the second bike stands against the wall on the inside. We also take it on travel to store the bikes in the hotel or rental house rooms.

I like the Super Stand. Simple to use and reliable.

The nice thing about the superstand is you can grab the back loop and move the bike easily.

I have a minoura that grabs the crank arm which I really like. But inevitably I want to move the bike and it's a pain

This one is a double I made using the stand by me hook style. After prying the hooks open so they would better accept the frame, I coated them with tool dip. I miss calculated the support base on this one, and had to add an extension. :o Works great, even with bare frames.
