now just 2...road . cx/ gravel....happy.

Are you kidding? I've only been a cycling nut for 2 years and I have 6 that I ride regularly. 2 Are mountain bikes. One is a beach cruiser, I have one aggressive road bike, and 2 touring bikes. One tourer is for around the world loaded to the gills, and one is more, light weight sports touring model for overnighters or the sub 24 hour trip Grant Peterson speaks of. Despite my collection, I spend hours on Facebook marketplace and Craig's list looking for my next love. I'm basically a cycling prostitute. I love everyone I get on.

9 here, barely getting by, its such a hardship. Fat bike, full sus, cross check for road, 1x1 set up for gravel, Karate Monkey for day exploring, Krampus for bikepacking, Nishiki with flat bars for road/errands, burley runabout for general purpose.

I think it is helpful to have several extra bikes at the lake house or the beach house, or wherever, like at your cabin in the mountains, or even at the homes of your children, so that (you) grandpa and (wife) grandma can ride with your adult child/their spouse and the grandkids. Hey, the bikes don't need to be the latest and greatest, anything like seventies era Schwinn, Raleigh, Panasonic, or Peugeot with tourist handlebars, tourist saddle and 5 speeds and handbrakes is all that you would ever need in the 19inch to 21 inch Women's Step Through frame size, because that can acomodate a petite 4 foot eleven adult female as well as any physically fit man that is less than 6 foot three inches tall, because the seat adjustment can be raised or lowered enough for them---------------------and because they are riding mild mannered upright tourist style bikes at one would expect to be a more leisurely pace, it is suitable to everyone from perhaps a ten year old girl to a 6ft 2inch man. THE ONLY THING NECESSARY IS TO HAVE SAID BIKES IN READY TO RIDE CONDITION WITH Relatively New Tires and Tubes, and Relatively New Brake Pads........and fully functional with no issues, and somewhat recent enough (within past 3 to 4 years) servicing of the bottom bracket bearings and related wheel bearings, headset bearings. Old Schwinns are great because they are simple to service and they are so durable and reliable. You don't care about them weighing ten pounds more than other bikes because with that type of leisure riding, it just does not matter, unless you're in such poor physical shape that riding a heavy Schwinn with gears would require that you would need Oxygen and immediate medical attention from EMTs/Paramedics.

Bicycling is fun. If no bikes are available there for family/friends/neighbors/ or anyone who wants to join in the fun.......................as the old saying goes, the more, the merry-er.......lets all have fun and ride together as you really only can do it , outdoors and spaced at a safe distance apart...............bicycling allows that and it is fun.
Wasn't there an Italian rock n roll group, can't remember if they were from Pisa or Genoa, but they had a catchy tune that unfortunately didn't burn up the charts.....but it did have a jingly guitar sound and good beat and went something like: I'm Gonna Have Fun Fun Fun Until My Mommy Takes The Bianchi Away....

bring yer own bicycle & beverage of choice. Too many times, bought a lot of item X, & everyone wants Y&Z instead.

I only have two. One is currently dedicated to being a shopping/utility bicycle (but I could easily enough convert it back to touring). And the only one more I'm planning to add is a foldie (which will also be suitable for touring and shopping/utility). I'd like to also have a bicycle-powered lawn mower, where I tow a reel mower behind a bicycle.

I suppose if you live in a tiny apartment 4 could be nuts but if you have space it's pretty easy to get to 4 by accident. I hit 7 the other night just because i spotted a junker curb find with a rack i wanted.

I have 0 torgue wrenches. Haven't found a need yet. I just measure in "grunts".
But I have too many square taper BB tools & cone wrenches and old bike parts.
