w/o a stabilizing hole to keep it in place, it slides back
w/o a hole for my camera mount. helps keep it in place. when not required I rolled it up, somewhat
I can't be swatting flies while I'm 2 handed climbing a hill on the MTB in the forest. when I'm out in the clear, moving faster, it isn't needed as much

Funny how this thread was dormant for a year, but then the skeeters started effing with us and the thread returned.
Shall we do it again same time next year. I hate the little bastards. We have have a lot of bats in the evening in my area and I welcome them as they feast on the skeeters.

DEET (100% from REI) "Jungle Juice" works for me, and I put in on my skin where necessary as well as my clothes. Who cares about the extra fingers and toes that I'm growing?

We learned to stay away from the all natural stuff. My wife is an essential oils type of person. First day we toured Prince Edward Island I told her to grab the can of deet and she decided on the essential oil repellent. Someone forgot to tell them that they were supposed to be repelled cause they seemed to think the stuff was extra seasoning. Any they might only fly 2mph but when you're getting up to speed they get on and stay on. Although she could keep them off her front and the jersey was baggy enough to keep them off her back for the most part her butt was seriously attacked by them. Next morning after leaving camp we stopped and bought a new can of deet.
We treat some of our clothes with the Permathrine which helps some but it doesn't protect bare skin, I do buy a tick specific form of Deep Woods Off that keeps most of the mosquitos at bay.

A good tasting nasty cigar, garlic juice mixed with olive oil, eating garlic, clothing, clothing dusted with Flea Powder, clothing dusted with Sulfur Powder...
And then there is DEET. The true back up when all else fails....
