Specialized Roubaix feedback please
 

Forum newbie here looking for feedback on a bike in consideration: Specialized Roubaix Dual/Triple Comp

Im not a real serious rider (35miles a weekday - 50+ weekends) overall average of 18 MPH on an aluminum Trek 1400. Centuries and fun rides - no time trials, no sprinting, etc.

Comfort and durability are my issues. I want the frame to last another 10 years of regular riding. Titanium prices scare me. The super light aluminum (foil) bikes just wont survive the garage tools occasionally falling against it.

Specialized Roubaix Dual/Triple Comp - DuraAce/Ultregra/18-27, Ksyrium, Carbon, etc ...

Any feedback available from those who own(ed)?

I've been ridin the Roubaix (basic) for about a year now. I love it. No maintenance issues. Really dampens road vibrations. Looks good too. :)

How heavy are those garage tools?
Carbon deals with random heavy tools falling on it even less nicely then aluminum.

Carbon won't fare very well getting smacked about by tools in the garage. Such a bike sould be kept in your front room on a special (ized) wall mount or a bullet proof glass display case.

If you want one to sling in the garage with rest of the junk I believe your local WalMart will have something more suitable.

I will cry if you are seriously asking about a bikes "falling garage tool durability".

Been riding mine for about 3 months and love it more and more each time I ride. I have the Elite Triple not sure about the difference. I ride about like you in miles per week but at a faster pace and it just keeps getting faster as I get stronger. I hear nothing but good feedback from others who have one, from long distance riders to those who ride fast and pseudo race.

I have 450 miles on my 2005 Specialized Roubaix (base model), and I am extremely happy so far. My bike is terrific, and I recommend it highly. It seems to get better and better with each ride.

Recently purchased an elite double, and am really enjoying it. I suddenly discover that I actually like to do a little climbing.

Hello, I just purchased an '05 Roubaix Comp Triple. Love it so far. My prior road bikes where...

1. Cannondale SR400 (Aluminum)...Back pain was becoming more and more evident on this ride.
2. Cannondale R600 (Criterium).....Triple Ouch!
