Most of my bikes are 8 and 9 speed, but I have one 6sp and one 10sp. Biggest difference between 6 and 10 is that I shift more on the 10.

Personally, I have 7,9,10, and 11-speed cassettes. I find I can shift into a more appropriate gear more often when I have a better selection of gears.

Age is not the only factor in determining to what generation a person identifies; shared values and experiences are far more important in this regard. I dont disagree that they can be applicable. They are overused at this point. The saturation point was exceeded long ago and I chuckle at those who use both too liberally now. At this point its gone meta, actually- laughing at someone who references something that is overused in their attempt to make fun of someone else for how they are thinking.
