Air Chuck for Presta Valves
Can anyone point me to where I can buy a simple air chuck for Presta valves similar to the one pictured here that's used for Shrader valves?

Or buy the little brass adaptor (most LBS's should have them) for $1 and use your regular gauge/chuck.

For general inflation or just to seat tubeless beads? I remove the presta core and inflate with the shrader head to seat the beads. Then allow it to air back down, insert sealant and inflate to proper pressure with a pump.

simple answer, no. Cheaper to spend an extra minute screwing on the adapter & using the car valve inflator. I've looked for a simple economical solution & nothing was available that made logical sense.

Be carefull that you compressor doesn't burst your tube.

The SKS Presta adapter is a very good choice. It’s far cheaper than a Silca chuck ($8 vs >$35) and it works with a Schrader compressor head. We use them at my co-op all the time. You don’t even have to order them on line if you don’t want to. Quality Bicycle Products carries them and your local shop can order them.

I’ve used prestaflate (one without the gauge) for the last few years. I only use it for seating tubeless mtb tires and finding holes in tubes to patch. Easily the best $35 I’ve ever spent. No issues seating any Mtb tires far better than the adapters.

I recently made the decision to convert to Schrader valves over this winter for that very reason.

I use the Air Bob tire inflator from Problem Solvers that will inflate presta or schrader valves and has a gauge as well.

The easy answer is to drill out the valve opening in your rim from 0.25” to 0.3125” (5/16”) and use a tube with a Schrader valve. Continental makes such tubes and they are they type with the threaded stem. Problem solved.

The air compressor hose has a Shrader fitting at the end and I needed an adapter of some sort so that I could use the air compressor on my Presta valves. Silca, Prestacycle and others have various types of adapters, but these ConvertAir look like a good solution. If I like them I may keep them installed to make injecting sealant as needed an easier task than trying to inject thru a Presta fitting.

Whatever floats your boat but if you are going to leave them in place, why not just drill out the rim and use Schrader valves? Schrader valves are made for tubeless so you wouldn’t have to fiddle with adaptors. Schrader tubeless valves cost only a little more than the ConvertAirs.

I prefer not to drill the wheels to go 100% Shrader. If I did that, there’s no returning to Presta nor do I want to abandon Presta valves completely. As I mentioned earlier, I would most likely only use the Convert Air adapters to make it easier to seat new tubeless tires.
