I have a buddy that rides one. It was his dream build after we saw a guy pull up at a MUP and we were gawking at it.

Are you considering one?

I am, the logical side of my brain says get the Altum with disk brakes and Ultegra, but the other side says get the RZ7 with Campy Super Record and Campy or Corima wheels.

I saw a stock Altum in Central Park last night and the guy loved it and the fit and finish was superb for a $4,500 bike. Stunning quality.

I sometimes ride with a guy who has one. He's super tall so needed a custom frame, and his XXL bike is lighter than my TCR. Nice bike.

I have an Altum disc and Ultegra Di2. Been riding it for several years and thoroughly enjoy it. it has not given me one tiny bit of trouble, have not even needed to true the wheels although it only has about 8 or 9 thousand miles on it. I believe they have made some changes in the last couple of years, two versions of the frame and more tire clearance.

Where are you located, I am in Maryland and the dealer in Annapolis is very good.

I live in Manhattan. There are three Parlee dealers in Manhattan but I would probably order it through My Bike Shop in Delaware to save on the sales tax plus I have gotten the best price from that shop.

I saw a 2020 Altum in the stock color and it was impressive.

The 2021s are out next week and I am planning on getting custom paint which they do in Massachusetts.

Are $4,500 bikes usually less than superb in fit & finish?

Doesn't NY require you to report 'net purchases on state income taxes? Why not give one of the New Yorkers an opportunity to add more value than the sales tax would cost. Maybe one of the Manhattan shops will be happy to deliver to New Jersey or CT. One of them, at least, may be interested in helping you...

The shops in NYC dont care enough about customers for me to buy from them. One wants $400 upfront for a fitting, one you need to make an appointment a month in advance and one gets very frames from Parlee.

The shop in Delaware has given me a great price with Campy all around and the bottom bracket I want.

I tried, I really tried to keep it local but paying $500 for sales tax is a joke really.

There is a shop in Lambertville, NJ, that used to sell Parlee. Id look into that, unless your true motivation is avoiding tax.

I think is it called "use tax". Also, you can pay some fixed amount in lieu of the use tax if each of your out of state purchases is less than 1,000$.

Too far. When you live in the city getting the energy to leave is difficult. I will probably stick with the retailer in Delaware.

I went with pearl white and black.

I did at a Campy Pro Shop near my office. Pretty standard 54, just between 42 and 44 bars.

Our sales tax is 10%. It does sting when you buy a car or RV. Then again, someone has to pay for services.
