What To Do With All These Mavic Stickers?
I bought some wheels. They came with these stickers:
https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...fe85e045a9.jpg Other than affixing them to my freshly shaved shins, where would you put these? I see the wisdom of posting my blood type - but is there a spot on my bike frame that EMT's know to look? Am I supposed to take all those logo stickers and Mavic my rims so fellow riders know I am FrenchFredFriendly? Inquiring minds want to know. |
Also, there is no "Tiger Blood" sticker, which is a real conspicuous absence.
|
The inclusion of blood type is... bizarre.
|
Personally, in the trash they go.
|
I’d sell them—along with the wheels.
|
Actually, there's enough stickers to do all 4 hubs of the car ... this is promising.
You'd sell the wheels? Thanks for your completely unsolicited advice. I know it's tough when your superior opinions aren't the center of attention, but this is about me, and my stickers. GlennR I know - right? Like I'm going to be bleeding out on the tarmac, and the EMT's are going to screech up in the ambulance and say "Check the seat tube. AB+, get a load of that! Start the transfusion ...." OTOH, I ride in very sparse areas sometimes, and have often wished for a really good med-alert bracelet or something. |
I have no clue about the blood type stickers. As for the others, suit yourself. I am not a big fan of providing free advertising, I have asked car dealers not to affix their stickers to cars I buy unless they pay me for the advertising space

Put the blood type on the back of my two fave helmets. Can't hurt, right?
As for the free advertising .... I'm thinking that I need to surreptitiously get these onto a few shopping carts and stroller rims. Tweet the pics back to Mavic. Honestly - that was one huge ass bunch of stickers. |
I have Mavic rims on my old Bianchi and only bled a few times with them, but never to the point of needing a transfusion. Almost makes you wonder about their new rims.
Just kidding of course. Blood type stickers, or organ donor, would be better placed on motorcycle helmets. |
Blood type stickers?? The blood type used for a transfusion is always based on a lab test or, if there isn’t time for that, then universal donor blood type is given. Just put all those blood type stickers on your bike’s frame - all of them - for decoration only.
|
Maybe the blood type could go on the helmet, but I have never seen that before, but I have a Road ID ankle band which I don't think they even sell anymore that has all that stuff on it.
|
Is Mavic suggesting you may need blood from using their wheels?
All of the stickers I acquire get affixed to the cabinet doors in my garage. |
I've been a paramedic for close to 20 yrs. Most ambulances don't carry blood due to storage complications. We also don't look for stickers on bikes or helmets. We do look for ID.

I had a bad, bad (non-cycling) ambulance ride a few years ago. Can confirm they did not seem to be carefully looking me over for 'stuff.' But my wife is a nurse and was present and could update.
I'd love to have a Road ID or similar - there are a couple of things on there I'd like them to know. I do like the idea of a Mavic-sponsored shopping cart. "Alaphillippe is perusing frozen produce ... and he's into Sagan!" |
You can always send them my way. I love cycling ephemera especially stickers and such.
|
just turf them in the garbage
