Good replacement for Conti Town & Country 26"?
I have 26" Continental Town & Country tires on a mountain bike that I use mostly for riding with my lovely bride. I seldom ride this bike off the road and have enjoyed these tires, but one of them has developed a hernia and I feel the hop on every rotation. What's a nice, slick replacement, that would withstand the very occasional dirt road?
Also, the T&C are about 2" wide, any issue comfort-wise with going to a narrower tire? Thanks for your thoughts.

I just mounted a new set of MAXXIS DTH tires in 26" X 2.15" that are low weight, have minimal tread and low rolling resistance. They also come in black sidewalls.

Conti makes a whole range of tires just like the T&C. last one I bought was the Ride Tour.
There really are too many options for what you are looking for. Trouble will be finding something available.

This is so true. Schwalbe makes a dozen tires that sound right for the use. I am not in a hurry, can wait. I took the wheels off the bike today and trued them, and realized that one of the tires was the problem, not the wheel.

I ended up with a pair of 1.9 Town and Country's because they rate realy high as a non studded winter tire on the old "Ice Bike" website and they where cheap. I put Serfas Drifters some one else's bike. They have the same negative tread slick design. I don't know if the rubber is as sticky as the Continentals.

Here's what's in stock at Bike Tires Direct: Slick/Semi Slick MTB Tires 1.9"-2.1"
Took me about 3 minutes to come up with it.
Don't let the branding throw you off, 26" BMX tires like the DTH and Holy Roller are a good choice for high-performance all-around 26"tires. They're kind of the middle ground between stodgy commuter tires like the Marathon, and the cheap knobbies they put on department store bikes.
