I picked up this NOS frame a few months or so ago, and just recently decided I had the parts and time to get 'er together. All I'm really missing now is the seatpost clamp, which I'm hoping to have on Monday.
XT HT2 crank, singled out with a 38t Raceface ring.
Microshift Advent 1x9, 11-42 cogset. I may upgrade to something else later, but this oughta do for now.
My Montague's old Rhyno-lite camo wheels, disc up front for the MT200 hydraulic brake (cable V brake in back)

I'm not sure how much technical trail riding I'll do, but I've been kinda liking the idea of setting up a rugged bikepacking mount. Plenty of bag space on frames my size, too. :)

Once I've secured the seatpost, I'll take it for a ride, and adjust appropriately.
I've never had an air fork before, so that's new, as is the hydraulic brake. The brake hose could be shortened a bit, but I want to ride it first (and getting a bleed kit in the mail).
Rear brake and shift cable could probably be a bit shorter too, but I'd rather start with 'em a little long, than too short.
Just rolling it out to the trees felt pretty good, and I haven't had this much clearance at the chainwheel in a long time.

I like it. I just gave a donated Fire Mountain to a amputee friend in need. A huge thanks goes out to my co-worker for donating the bike. I was going to build him up one and she said "I gotchu dawg". However I will state yours looks and probably performs better than his. I love those colors

Trimmed up the shifter and rear brake cables today, as I've been a little under the weather and couldn't ride on my sick day anyway. Bleh.
The only thing I didn't shorten is the hydraulic front brake hose. I have the stuff for it, but as it'd be my first time working on hydros, I'm gonna wait a bit. It ain't in the way right now anyway.

Turns out 30mm was the right size for a seatpost clamp, a seller just mislabeled the one I bought. Found a white one, thought it might set off the paint scheme a little bit.

Looks rad. Are there lot's of frame and fork mounts for mounting racks and bikepacking items?

About normal for such a hardtail: rack braze-ons in the back, a couple sets for bottle cages... I figure it's a fine starting point.

More bikes should have the third bottle cage under the downtube by the BB. It is just such a useful mount and it is not like it adds a ton of weight and you can always add some frame plugs in if you aren't using it or just grease up a aluminum bolt and you still aren't adding much.

That is really sweet. A couple of riding buddies had Kona steel HTs back in the day 20 years ago (one still has it), and I think they are beautiful.
