Chinese carbon rims

Since this year's winter seems longer than usual, I decided building a set of light weight climbing wheels on a pair of DT Swiss hubs I have laying around would be a good way to pass the time. So I started hunting for a set of low profile carbon rims, but no matter what source I turn to, if the point of origin is Taiwan or mainland China, it'll take months for delivery.

Now I've gone this route before and had no problem getting Asian rims delivered in around 2 weeks. I'm guessing this is part of the fallout from Covid.

Anyone know of a source for carbon rims that can be delivered in anything less than 2 - 3 months?

No source to support the suspense being seeked, but I will say that even before the supply issues were a "thing", I waited 2+ months for a set to arrive.

Did you check Amazon or Ebay? Plenty there.

^eBay is a good suggestion, IF the seller is already in the U.S. and has stock. You will pay the premium for pre-shipped stock, though. It'll be baked into the price. I have a set of matte carbon 50s with Sapim spokes laced to DT240s. I bought them back in 2019, though. Terrific wheels.

I wonder if a manufacturer such as ENVE sells rims separately? For my bike, their website promises eleven weeks to build a complete pair of wheels (tempting, but thus far I am resisting the temptation!).... Surely just the rims would be quicker, and they're shipped from just a couple states away.

However they're likely more expensive than Chinese rims if that is a factor.

Have you looked at these guys.

I have a set of their wheels (FL50) and am very happy with them.

From what I have drummed up with a very similar situation as the OP is that even if the Ebay seller lists the shipping location being "US" & shows the product "In Stock" & states "Shipping 1-2 weeks" it does not mean it will be received in that amount of time. Until the seller updates the buyer with "Item shipped" it still can sit on a boat awaiting a freight update. Which, that is exactly what happened to me with 1 amazon & 1 ebay purchase. The amazon purchase was pre supply chain disruption & it took way longer than expected to receive the order. Ebay had a slight twist. The seller provided a tracking number that was not usable until the package was within the "1-2 weeks" window of being received. Up until that point, it was over 2 months of the tracking number being "invalid" . Ebay's policies would not support any dispute to cancel/refund/force the seller to communicate.

^ I agree. It's tricky. If I couldn't get a positive response from a seller in advance of the order, then I wouldn't buy.

I'm in the throes of buying a track frame made in Singapore but sold by a Chinese Aliexpress seller. I have specific size requirements, of course. It has taken two weeks to get the seller to respond, and tell me that they only have one color in my size (contrary to the store listing). They extended the shipping origination time once already, after I had agreed and paid. Sigh. I don't need the frame, and have no deadline. I'd be surprised if I've finished this bike before July 2021. Really surprised.

I've combed through ebay, AliExress, Amazon, Ican, and many more, and no one seems able to deliver product in anything less than a couple months. Whether it's a result of the pandemic or the approaching Chinese New Year, no one is shipping. I did get in touch with Tandell. They were candid enough to tell me right from the get go they won't be shipping orders placed after January 1 until after the Chinese New Year, Feb 12, 2021. Since it currently looks like the weather will have me trainer bound for another month anyway, I went ahead and placed an order for a pair of rims. As much as it's out of character for me, I gonna just try to just be patient.
