Bont Riot MTB+

I like Bont's concept of offering a moldable sole shoe. Is anyone familiar with the fit of the Riot MTB+ mountain bike shoes. Are they tight, or rather loose. How do you like the moldable sole

I use Riot+, the road version, and really like them. I’ve been using Bonts for a few years, and have two pairs of old A3 (one MTB versions) and also a pair of A2, so I’m all in. I do like the molding, and find it helps make the fit really nice. Because of the tub construction, if the Bonts don’t fit right, they can really be uncomfortable because the side of the foot is impinged by the hard ridge. It’s different from other constructions that way.

Do you find your Bont Mountain bike shoes are true to size?

Yes, I suppose so. I’m right on the cusp between Euro 46.5 and 47, and 46.5 Bonts fit like I expect 46.5 to fit. I wear several Camper models as street shoes, and the Bonts fit me almost exactly as those do. By comparison, I find Nike Air Force 1s, the “hustler’s shoe,” a bit narrow and just a touch longer in USA 12, which Nike confusingly labels as Euro 46.

I had a pair. They were nice shoes as far as fit and comfort. The moldable foot bed worked fine. They lasted about 2 years and the sole on one of the shoes broke where the cleats are attached. I am over 100kg and used to leg press 350kg without much trouble. A lighter rider might not have the issue I had.

I’m 240lbs and have had no problems with any of my Bonts...other than the locking top strap on my A2s breaking and needing replaced. I bought what Bont had to offer, but the replacement straps were for a newer model and a little too short for my older shoe, so the max extension is still a tad too tight across the top of the arch, so those are retired for now. I hope to find a used pair cheap on eBay I can pick for parts.

I have the Riot+ road shoes. It took me multiple times in the oven to get the shape correct for my (narrow, low arch) feet, but once I did, they're great. I went by the sizing recommendations on the Bont site, which was not quite the same as my usual size.

oh, that’s right...Bont do have specific sizing instructions on their site. That’s how I arrived at my sizing the first time. Good tip to stick with that.

i had a terrible time with the bont riot plus roads , there was this spur in the out sides that just dug in , try to heat mold them but it never helped , and they ended up cracking in half under 3 months , carbon is a great but brittle for shoes i guess , never buying them again , i have the shimano r7 road , wide now
