I would go with John Deere Green with John Deere Yellow highlights and throw a layer of clear retroreflective paint over the top. If you live around "Bubba", he will love it. Everyone else will see it.

I happen to like the Surly logo maybe listening to all that Punk, Metal, Hardcore, and the many subgenres thereof have made me appreciate fonts like that. (I do listen to quite a bit of other music as well so don't try and put me into a musical box, Birth of the Cool to Holy Mountain to Moving Pictures to Pipe and Drum Music to Enter the Wu Tang (36 Chambers) and a lot of stuff in between and on the far outskirts.)

I'd probably go with something lime green or just a really bright color in general. I can't really say how I'd want it to fit in with other colors though. The upside is it'd be more visible too.

I like frames in any color except black. And I prefer chrome or silver parts over black for cranks, seatpost, stems, etc.

Grew up in the 80’s so I’m a big fan of that fun palette and design. Pinks, teals, purples, bold blues, orange. Lots of those era bikes in my stable. I even paid a hefty premium to add some color to my new titanium gravel bike.

That would be cool. 
If you need proof that square tubes are more aero (or more sturdy) or that mondrian paint is faster, I know a CF & paint engineer that can 'prove' just about any theory you wish to be true, for some profit.
Maybe check with that bike company named Cube for your frameset.

You know a Rubic’s cube paint scheme is not all that crazy of an idea as far as “do-ability”...and would look absolutely wild. I’d bet if you got the colors and corners right it would be instantly recognizable.

I bid on ebay not long ago for the matching crankset and rear derailleur - i bid more than the cost of the bike and lost out.
Also came with Stronglight half step + granny, much better for my riding than fancy gold

No I'm not a plumber, but wandering around my old power station the look grew on me. Tarnish is a problem I guess.
Not so keen on the insulated steam pipe look, maybe on an old Klein. ; )
The other idea is from the hand rails worn through the yellow top coat, into the gray, into the primer, finally down to the bare steel.
Pretty much the definition of "Patina".
